It makes no difference if you are a man, woman, or child, you can have a blast staying in your Stuart real estate and watching an entertaining cartoon on DVD. You just have to know the best moves to choose. Otherwise, you can be throwing away valuable time and money. Fortunately, the right movie can be good wholesome fun for everyone in the family.

Animated for the kids, but written for their parents, Shark Tale is plenty of fun. The DreamWorks animated feature from 2004, Shark Tale stars Will Smith as Oscar, a small fish in a giant blue sea whose aspirations often lead him to trouble. Jack Black supplies the familiar voice of Lenny, an effeminate and vegetarian great white shark. The two characters form an unlikely, and top-secret friendship.

Oscar is a fly fish who raps, sweet-talks the ladies, and is constantly getting himself into hot water. He is employed at the Whale Wash with Angie, a friend possessing a secret crush on Oscar. She even attempts to bail the protagonist out of gambling debt when he’s threatened to “sleep with the fishes… the dead ones.” Due to a series of misunderstandings, Oscar is hailed as “the Sharkslayer,” and immediately rises to the top of the reef.

The greatest feature of Shark Tale is the talent that lends its Mafioso voices to the film. Not only does Oscar Award winner Robert De Niro provide the voice of Don Lino, the mole-faced godfather of the reef, but Martin Scorsese is phenomenal as the wise guy-bookie blowfish. Angelina Jolie is a gold-digging hussy, and Renée Zellweger is heard as the sweet Angie.

True, Shark Tale is very predictable for any adult viewer. However, it is filled with fabulous one-liners throughout the entire piece. The witty dialogue, filled with crude humor, was obviously written for parents, rather than their kids. While the animation is superb, Shark Tale is fun for the whole family.

Another DVD that belongs in every home for sale in Stuart is Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. It may not measure up to the original, but the animated release from 2006 is wholesome fun. Sticking to the same tone as the first film, Ray Romano returns as the prehistoric voice of Manny, the masculine mammoth. John Leguizamo puts the stink into extinction, while Dennis Leary and Queen Latifah lend their voices as well.

In this quest, the deep freeze is over, and the ice-covered earth is starting to melt, which will bring about “doomsday.” So, all the animals must unite in the desperate situation to survive the flooding of the glaciers and the melting of the ice caps in three days’ time.  That’s quite a blunt hint towards global warming for a kids’ flick. Regardless, the animals manage to have a good time, riding icebergs that are comparable to Six Flags waterslides. The DVD also offers a couple special bonuses. For instance, the 2-minute cartoon “No Time for Nuts” is hilarious. Ice Age 2 is a warm adventure for everyone a Stuart luxury home.
