Dictionary.com defines the klutz as slang for a clumsy, awkward person. Years ago, I knew an attractive and delightful woman named Carrie Porter who is the single biggest klutz I have ever met in my entire life. As wonderful of an individual as she was, Carrie must have been the clumsiest individual I have ever met. Simply having dinner with the woman meant spilled drinks and stained clothes. Fortunately, Carrie and her friends have all learned to laugh at her clumsiness.

Everything and anything that could go wrong in or outside of her Delray Beach luxury home occurs to Carrie. For instance, she is known to slip on the cement whenever she is washing a car on her driveway. Carrie has been known to slam the dishwasher on her own hand and suffer severe paper cuts while opening the mail. The woman will lose control of a 2-liter soda bottle and end up pouring it all over her forgiving husband at the dinner table. She could be cutting up veggies to make a salad and accidentally slice open a finger or two. Maybe she’ll sneeze while taking a shower, fall over, and sprain three fingers on the tub.

While dropping soda and stubbing a toe every now and then are no big deal, Carrie’s awkwardness eventually led to some pretty serious medical issues. For starters, the woman was once putting on her running shoes before she stepped out the front door to go exercising. However, when she picked up one leg, Carrie lost her balance. Immediately, she went falling down the two steps in front of her Delray Beach real estate. No big deal, right? Wrong! Carrie somehow managed to sprain her ankle in her fall. She spent the next 6 weeks stumbling around on crutches. The blockhead even went on a family vacation to Disney World during that time. At least she and her family got to skip to the front of every line as she ventured through the park in a wheelchair.

Eventually, Carrie was back on her feet and doing fine. That is until her 120-pound Golden Retriever accidentally knocked her down the flight of stairs in her home for sale in Delray Beach. At first, Carrie though her body was just sore and the pain would fade away. But that wasn’t the case. After a week or so of dyer pain, Carrie’s doctor convinced her to get an x-ray. It turned out that she had cracked a small piece of her spine. In fact, surgery was necessary to ever get rid of the shooting pain shooting from the bottom of her back up to her neck. Carrie had to travel to the University of Miami to undergo an anterior discectomy and fusion surgery. Ouch! She spent the following 3 months at home with a giant brace around her neck. At least Carrie’s insurance covered the big procedure.

Even more important than the large doctors’ bills that Carrie acquires, her family accepts her being a klutz. Despite all the spilled soda and treks to the emergency room, they wouldn’t trade her in for the most graceful substitute in the world.
