It is quite unfortunate that Weston real estate owners, as well as all South Floridians who love the Beatles will get to see Sir Paul McCartney’s 2017 trek at American Airlines Arena on the 5th of July. At least we can prepare to see the Cute One onstage with DVDs in our homes.

Paul’s 2002 DVD, Back in the U.S., mixes his concert footage from the previous year with documentary info. Paul explains in the film’s opening credits that the tour’s energy in the stands is comparable to the Beatles’ hype, but it is no longer only 16-year old girls. Under an enormous video monitor displaying the 1960s’ British Invasion, the singer appears center stage in a blazer, T-shirt, and jeans. Besides Paul’s red T, and a matching lava lamp, everything on the massive platform is black, from the band’s clothes to the instruments and the speakers.

With over three hours of live recordings, viewers get to see renditions of old and new favorites, including “Hello Goodbye,” “Jet,” “Live and Let Die,” “Eleanor Rigby,” and an acoustic “Blackbird.” Some fabulous favorites include “Something” and “Hey Jude,” but they are only partially presented. While the sound quality is top-notch, the camerawork is extremely jumpy, with quick cuts of emotional men, women, and children holding up Beatles paraphernalia.

The DVD’s documentary entails the tour manager sharing aspects of his working life with the audience, while Paul’s wardrobe lady displays his favorite outfits. Spectators in homes for sale in Weston are guided through Paul’s dressing rooms, shower stall, after-show parties and chartered jet. Individuals in the backup band relive their initial meetings with the billionaire, and fans from around the world discuss the concert experience. Additional special features include a concert set-list and the sound check performances of three different singles, “Bring It to Jerome,” “Midnight Special” and “San Francisco Bay.” Finally, Sir Paul expresses in Back in the U.S. that he has no urge to retire from the music industry, as he simply loves his job.

The 2006 DVD release, Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us portrays the former Beatle’s sold out American jaunt throughout 2005. Utilizing more than two-dozen cameras and 5.1 digital surround sound, the disc provides a front-row concert experience for the show. The performance was even beamed to the astronauts orbiting the Earth on the International Space Station who woke up to Paul’s singles through a live feed from the tour during his Anaheim engagement.

The Space Within Us entails thirty timeless hits, such as the Beatles’ “Magical Mystery Tour,” and “Hey Jude.”  Wings’ numbers entail “Maybe I’m Amazed,” as well as “Too Many People.” Solo material includes an acoustic “Jenny Wren,” and “English Tea.”  The movie also has special features, such “Paul’s World,” short and to the point interviews with the band on Sir Paul’s private jet. There is also an introduction by Cameron Crowe. The world-renowned director offers insight into the pop culture phenomenon that McCartney has represented for four decades. Crowds of all ages, including Weston luxury homeowners who were viewers of the Beatles’ original appearance on Sullivan in 1964, and their children, mixed in with their grandkids.
