There is nothing better than cozying up with your family on your Coral Gables real estate to view a spectacular film that everyone can enjoy together. One of the best choices is 1987’sThree Men and a Baby. A trio of successful playboys in the Big Apple, Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson become surrogate fathers to Mary, a 6-month-old left on their doorstep. The bachelors suddenly have to put their lives on hold and become responsible. But it’s not so easy. Selleck is an architect that builds 50-story skyscrapers, but he can’t change a diaper. In fact, he offers $1,000 to anybody willing to do the dirty deed. Eventually, Magnum and his studly roommates learn to love the little chick-magnet. It’s far from realistic, but Three Men and a Baby is certainly entertaining for the whole family.

Many folks with homes for sale in Coral Gables think 1989’s Look Who’s Talking is a riot. Directed by Amy Heckerling, the endearing PG-13 picture entails Kirstie Alley as a working single mom in Manhattan, and her “biological clock was ticking.” A charming Bruce Willis supplies the voice for her son’s thoughts starting when he was merely a sperm cell struggling towards her egg. John Travolta enters the scene as a cabbie that gets them to the hospital just in time. After the delivery, Alley is determined to find the best daddy possible for her wise-cracking angel. A single man willing to take on a newborn isn’t easily found, especially the anal-retentive accountants she’s set up with.  It appears nobody is good enough to be the daddy. Unless of course, the ideal man is right under her nose. Speaking of a surrogate, Travolta gets his dance on with the 1-year-old, while Look Who’s Talking’s fun soundtrack includes “Staying Alive.” Watching the lovable little devil discover mirrors, his genitals, and large milk jugs is absolutely priceless.

Men and women with Coral Gables homes for sale will also enjoy 1989’s Parenthood, directed by Ron Howard. The PG-13 flick stars Steve Martin as a memorable family man in the realistic portrayal of family life for four generations. Martin is a supportive little league coach that’s determined to be the best father possible. He dreams of his children growing strong and confident. Then there’s his incredible shrinking grandmother, his folks, brothers, sisters, nieces and a clueless new nephew, Keanu Reeves. On top of playing video games, the philosophical granny compares the life of a parent to the ups and downs of an exhilarating rollercoaster. While grandma is busy inhaling helium, Martin fills a gap as Cowboy Gil at his boy’s 9th birthday party. The funny guy replicates one’s lower intestines out of party balloons. It’s a hilarious scene that only Mr. Martin could pull off. As seen in Parenthood, as well as the decade’s other comedy classics based on parenting, life is not all roses. Yet, there are some sweet and hysterical moments that will stand any test of time for any Coral Gables luxury homeowner.
