Fort Myers Homeowners Say Goodbye to Bill Paxton

Many Fort Myers real estate owners will remember the late Bill Paxton as the guy freaking out on his quest to fight off aliens or a famed treasure hunter in Titanic. Perhaps his single most memorable role is Chet, the big brother who bullies around the high school geeks in the John Hughes Eighties’ classic Weird Science. Paxton was 61.

Hollywood lost another star over the weekend. After undergoing heart surgery, Bill Paxton passed away from a fatal stroke on Saturday, February 25th. Easily recognizable from enormous blockbusters, Paxton took home an Emmy Award for his work on “Hatfields and McCoys.” Most recently, Paxton was the star of a new series on TV, CBS’s “Training Day.”

Paxton leaves behind two children and a wife of three decades. We all remember his impressive career, as it spans many years and includes some of the greatest films ever made. The man has also been described as a passionate man who was full of love and warmth.

According to NBC News, Paxton looked back on his career and called himself a “working actor” in a February interview on “Last Call with Carson Daly,” “You see those big stars who work all the time,” he said. “I’ve never had that one movie that really put it all together for me and really gave me a run on sugar. I always felt like Avis,” Paxton continued. “They used to have a slogan, Avis Car Rental: ‘We try harder.'”

According to Anthony Michael Hall’s character in Weird Science, anybody with the Marine’s haircut that Paxton sports in the film is going to have a foul personality. Lisa eventually turns Chet into a miniature Jabba the Hutt until he agrees to treat the boys with dignity and respect. A young Downey also appears as a popular kid who enjoys tormenting the two lead characters. By the end of their adventurous weekend, Gary and Wyatt gain popularity and attractive girlfriends in their race for power and glory.

In the timeless flick, 15-year-old Gary and Wyatt share the same fantasy: It’s purely sexual. They will get a girl to shower with them. Then bang, they will hit the city. A little drinking, a little nightlife and dancing. They’ll throw a huge party. I mean, a HUGE party. Everybody’s invited. Women everywhere. Gary and Wyatt are hip and popular. Finally, they’re studs. It’s 1985, it’s PG-13 and it is Weird Science.

Wyatt’s folks are out-of-town. Watching some horror movies on TV, Gary gets a pretty good idea of actually making a girl on Wyatt’s computer. She’ll be just like Frankenstein, except cuter. The two little maniacs can use it, put it into real life social situations and see how it reacts. The computerized woman is a 23-year-old sex-pot named Lisa. She takes the fellas downtown for an intoxicating, bizarre, vivid and erotic evening. Wyatt gets to drive, even if he doesn’t have his license yet. After all, Lisa could have a good time at an insurance seminar. The next night, the woman throws a party with chips, dips, chains, whips and a couple of hundred kids running around in their underwear, acting like complete animals.
