As every Coral Gables real estate owner who considers him or herself a classic rock fan already knows, the mastermind behind Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, will be making his way to Miami’s American Airlines Arena with the Us + Them tour on Thursday, the 13th of July.

To get themselves prepared for the phenomenal concert, music fans with homes for sale in Coral Gables can get ahold of the 16-disc box set known as Oh By the Way. The assortment contains the fearless Pink Floyd’s entire studio discography, from 1967’s Piper at the Gates of Dawn to 1994’s The Division Bell. An individual can lay in bed, sit on the couch, or even go walking for multiple hours at a time and entertain him or herself for hours with some of the greatest music ever made.

The famous painter known for much of the band’s artwork, Storm Thorgersen, designed the artistic cover. Each piece of work has been repackaged into mini reproductions, complete with all the posters. Recreating the original vinyl covers, the individual CDs will appear just like the records did decades ago, along with postcards and mini dust jackets. Another print features forty images from Pink Floyd’s 40th Anniversary.

Unfortunately, the set is missing Pink Floyd’s two live albums, Delicate Sound of Thunder and Pulse, compilations such as A Collection of Great Dance Songs, and rare CDs, including Relics. But there’s plenty of new choices of material for classic rock fans to spend their dough on.

Of course, the box set includes Pink Floyd’s first Number One gem from four decades ago, Atom Heart Mother. The 2007 DVD, Rock Milestones Atom Heart Mother is a documentary exploring the timeless album. Avant-garde composer and co-writer Ron Geesin revisits the ambitious LP of the same name, describing the circumstances surrounding the creation of the album. The film examines how the work marked a dramatic change for the crew in a new decade, while the band’s individual talents, David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Nick Mason all share their personal memoirs. Folks from the industry discuss certain parts of Atom Heart Mother as well. The disc also contains fragments of the only known recording of a performance of Atom Heart Mother complete brass and choir at the Brits’ Bath Festival in 1970 and archive tapings of the classic track, “Fat Old Sun.” However, a majority of the shot from Bath are blurry, making the image onscreen difficult to follow. Also, all the information offered is highly technical and rather boring for the average music fan.

Unlike the original album, the Atom Heart Mother DVD is a major disappointment to Pink Floyd followers, despite some interesting background on the making of the album. To get psyched for the Waters concert, watch Pulse or Waters’ In The Flesh. For educational purposes, rent The Making of Dark Side, and to be utterly blown away by sight and sound, purchase The Wall. That is one Pink Floyd album, as well as a film, that should be in every Coral Gables luxury home.
