As any Coral Springs real estate owner can imagine, the Beatles are the most covered band in history. There are countless renditions of Beatles songs floating around the planet that fall flat to the Fab classics. It’s almost impossible to make these interpretations sound fresh considering the originals were pretty flawless to begin with.

One decade ago, the Across the Universe soundtrack was released. The fictional film is set in the turbulent 1960s. The characters, conveniently named Jude and Lucy are dealing with anti-war protest, rock and roll, as well as mind-altering drugs.

The couple attends peace movements with Mr. Kite and Dr. Robert, played by Bono. The celebrity who once turned down the role of a villain in a Batman flick is rumored to have improved much of his dialogue. The groovy hippie flaunts a thick mustache, a fringe jacket and cruises in a psychedelic bus.

Numerous folks with Coral Springs homes for sale know how much Bono appreciates the Beatles’ material, from “Helter Skelter” in 1988’s Rattle and Hum, mixing “Sgt. Pepper’s” to “Beautiful Day” at the Vertigo show 12 years ago in Miami. You can even find Bono singing “Dear Prudence” iTunes.

“Instant Karma” is an all-star album benefiting Amnesty International’s campaign to end the Darfur genocide. The CD kicks off with U2’s rendition of “Instant Karma.” Rather than hearing the desperate passion in the singer’s raw voice, many people with Coral Springs Florida real estate condos think Bono’s theatrical and doo-wop vocals change the overall feeling of John’s heartfelt masterpiece.

Perhaps a better contribution to the Walrus’s collection would have been the Fly’s “God Part II” from 1988’s Rattle and Hum. Years ago, Bono performed live with several other artists as part of a Tsunami Relief project performing the melodic single “Across the Universe.”

Later in their career, their creative writing got highly imaginative. Men and women with homes for sale in Coral Springs believe their powerful songs depicted real life social awareness.

Across the Universe features two examples of the revolutionary material. Bono, perhaps the world’s most successful political rock star, joins Secret Machines to create “I Am the Walrus.” The last track on the CD is Bono alone sharing his version of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” The complexity of the song is still unmatched.

John had always insisted that “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” is a based on his four-year-old son’s painting of a classmate, Lucy. He also claimed that the trippy images in the song were inspired by the ‘Wool and Water’ chapter in Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, and there is no connection to his song’s initials, LSD, and the mind-altering drug.

Well, with or without hallucinogens, the Fly’s remake will never compare to the Walrus’s “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” Too bad that pretty much every track on Across the Universe lacks John’s genuine emotion. It can never be duplicated. It’s been 27 years since the godly poet’s untimely death, and his enduring messages still continue to shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun.
