If you are an Oviedo real estate owner looking to kill a few hours, try watching some old comedy spoofs. For instance, National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1 is a laugh-out-loud no-brainer from 1993. Acting as a spoof of the Lethal Weapon films, Loaded Weapon 1 has an all-star cast entailing Emilio Estevez, Samuel L. Jackson, the gorgeous Kathy Ireland and William Shatner as the ruthless villain General Mortars. While cracking on the popular Mel Gibson tale, this movie also refers to other Hollywood classics, such as Dirty Harry, The Silence of the Lambs, Basic Instinct, Wayne’s World, and Die Hard.

Los Angeles detective Billie York, played by Whoopi Goldberg, is killed for possessing a microfilm with the recipe to turn drugs into innocent looking snacks, Wilderness Girl cookies. Emilio Estevez is Sgt. Jack Colt, a dangerous loose-cannon who is teamed with Samuel L. Jackson in the criminal investigation. The best feature of Loaded Weapon is its list of celebrity cameos, including Phil Hartman, Denis Leary, Jon Lovitz, Bruce Willis and Star Trek’s Scotty. The Estevez movie even references his brother’s farce, Hot Shots, as Charlie Sheen makes an appearance as well. In the end, the cookie factory is destroyed in an accidental explosion due to a cigarette and a gasoline spill. Four of the main characters drive away in a Wayne’s World ending, all headbanging to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The script’s ridiculous one-liners earn a few laughs. For example, you’ll giggle when a dealer attempts to buy kilos on a credit card to earn airline miles. Also, cops do the limbo at crime scene under the police line.

Another funny spoof worth watching in your home for sale in Oviedo is 2007’s Reno 911!: Miami. Reno’s distinct law enforcement troop headed to South Florida for their first big screen presentation. The script was written by series co-creators and actors Robert Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Kerri Kenney. However, much of the memorable dialogue turned out to be improvised on the set, like the TV series.

A police convention in Miami during Spring Break brings the entire Reno sheriff’s department to fun in the Florida sun. Of course, a biochemical attack is launched on the squad’s hotel. When terrorists take over the convention, the eight visiting Nevada cops are left in charge of taking back the city. A Cuban drug-runner kidnaps the crew, throws bags over their heads, and brings them to a boat. The new character, cleverly named “Pacino,” wears a white suit and loud shirt that perfectly recreates Miami’s infamous Tony Montana. The antagonist rants about “cock-a-roaches” and the importance of yard work to officers Jones and Garcia. Pacino has some infectious one-liners, including “Say hello to your little friend.”

Reno 911!: Miami features several guest stars, such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin’s Paul Rudd. “It’s much bigger than the TV show,” said Thomas “Dangle” Lennon on the film’s website.

As you can see, you do not have to spend a small fortune at the movie theatre to enjoy a few laughs. Folks can now pop in an older comedy spoof to have a ball in their Oviedo luxury homes.
