There are literally thousands of men and women who now own Stuart real estate that consider themselves enormous fans of The Who. The classic rock band out of England has released a handful of albums and global tours since the Sixties, as well sparked solo careers. Take a look at some homeowners’ favorite albums.

Sammy Hawkins is a 62-year-old physician living by himself in a luxurious penthouse in Stuart. For more than 40 years, he has loved The Who’s By Numbers album. The 1975 collection excels with unsung timeless cuts, such as “They Are All in Love” and “How Many Friends.” Crisp sounding cuts include “Success Story,” “How Many Friends” and “Imagine A Man.”

Sammy’s ex-wife, Patty, prefers the solo work of The Who’s legendary guitarist Pete Townshend. Her favorite album is Empty Glass. Released in 1980, the album is known as the man’s best solo effort. The essential tracks consist of “Rough Boys,” “Let My Love Open the Door,” and “Gonna Get Ya.” Of course, Sammy thinks it is insulting to compare the album to a piece of work from The Who. It is easy to see why the married couple didn’t stay together.

When looking at different homes for sale in Stuart, Sammy met another classic rock fan named Jimmy Wilcox. Jimmy’s favorite album by the band is 1969’s Tommy. The concept album about a deaf, dumb, and blind pinball wizard has been staged as a play globally by a number of opera companies for four decades. The Who added an ambitious dimension to rock culture by writing a rock-opera about alienation, along with creative recording techniques.

Not quite as much as the original, but Jimmy also loves Tommy – As Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra & Chambre Choir with Guest Soloists. In the wonderful adaptation of The Who’s rock opera, the ensemble supplies a superb performance. Recorded in 1975, Elton John and Tina Turner deliver a fresh and flamboyant version of “Pinball Wizard.”

Jimmy’s wife, Nancy is also a fan of the British boys. Her favorite LP has always been Who’s Next. Released in 1971, the album followed on the heels of Tommy. The record is a masterpiece, as it contains some of the band’s most outstanding and famous songs, including the timeless “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

However, that’s not the only album by the Englishmen that Nancy appreciates. She also loves The Who Sell Out,1967’s concept album formatted as a collection of unrelated songs interspersed with mock commercials and public service announcements broadcast by a pirate radio station in London. Not unlike previous albums by the band, The Who Sell Out is widely considered one of the greatest works of art in music history.

Of course, folks living in Stuart luxury homes also get a kick out of singer Roger Daltry’s solo works, as well as those from Pete Townshend and bass player John Entwistle. Music lovers can also get a kick out of The Who’s performance on the 1970 release of Woodstock: Music from the Original Soundtrack and More.
