After a 10-year run on Saturday Night Live where he played a memorable George W. Bush, funny man John William Ferrell, aka Will Farrell, became a Hollywood star. Thousands of Aventura real estate owners first grew affection for the man when watching 2003’s Elf. Farrell stars as a human raised in the North Pole. Apparently, he crawled into Santa’s bag of toys as a baby in an orphanage and the man thinks he’s one of them, despite his hefty size. He decides to travel to New York City to track down his roots. He finds his workaholic father, James Caan, but it seems everyone has forgotten what Christmas is all about, especially the little person that assaults Farrell after being mistaken for an elf.

As Comical as Elf may be, men, women, and children living in homes for sale in Aventura would be better off watching Blades of Glory. Released in 2007, the flick is a funny, 90-minute dose of stress-free no-brainer comedy. Ferrell is Chazz Michael Michaels, the arrogant slob, and Napoleon Dynamite’s Jon Heder portrays pretty boy Jimmy MacElroy. The two athletes start out as head to head rivals on the ice, before both tying for first place medals. It is quite memorable, as they get into a brawl and accidentally light the game’s human mascot in costume on fire. As a direct result, the two schmucks find themselves eternally banned from the men’s singles competition.

After three long, arduous years away from the sport they love, the two professionals’ careers are in the dumps. In fact, a drunken Farrell is performing at a kids’ show, where he pukes inside his costume’s headpiece. Three years later, the two team up as the first man-and-man duo in pairs skating. The script’s fictional “loophole,” allowing for two male skaters to team up on the ice, does not really exist. In reality, International Skating Union regulations state that a pair team on the senior Olympic level is made up of only a coed couple. While there are similar pairs, made up of two men and two women, such pairs do not compete in the grand competitions. Of course, the two characters could have worked together on a synchronized skating team. The masculine team does carry out a real trick when Jimmy’s ankles are placed around Chazz’s neck on the ice. But the maneuver is not legal in skating competitions. To perform the move legitimately, the man must be holding the woman by her hands or by her hips.

A few other interesting facts entail the casting of Jenna Fischer. The star of TV’s The Office, co-stars as Heder’s heartthrob. Also, shooting at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena was delayed for a short time when Heder broke his ankle while performing a skating routine.

If you are an Aventura luxury homeowner who is a fan of Will Ferrell’s dim-witting streaking and car racing on the big screen, the ridiculous one-liners and peacock costumes worn in Blades of Glory will bring home the gold.
