Melbourne / Space Coast real estate owners certainly appreciate their classic rock records. Check out a few of the most beloved pieces of vinyl.

Frank Gentile is a die-hard music fan who lives in a small by gorgeous home the Intracoastal on the Space Coast. Taking care of his elderly mother, Frank listens to old records all day. This morning, Frank began his day with 1980’s Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School, the fourth album by Warren Zevon. The artist recorded his offbeat, sardonic view of life in his dark, sometimes humorous songs, which often incorporated political or historical themes. The man’s favorite track has to be “Play It All Night Long” because is a funny homage to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”

By the time Frank fed his Labrador, his mother, and himself, it was time to switch the music. That’s when he decided to chill out to some Willie Nelson country. The man from Abbott, Texas is widely considered an American legend who reached his greatest fame during the so-called “outlaw country” movement of the 1970s. The Eighties saw a series of hit singles for Nelson, including “Always on My Mind,” “On the Road Again” and “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before.” Frank appreciates hearing every one of the singles.

Frank’s girlfriend is Susy Klein, a single mother of two who recently purchased a 1-bedroom home for sale in Melbourne / Space Coast. For decades, her favorite record has always been Styx’s 1978 release, Pieces of Eight. The LP is about not giving up your dreams for the pursuit of money and material possessions. Two of its ten tracks are instrumentals, “The Message” and the closing track, “Aku-Aku.” As Susy is very proud to explain, the album peaked at #6 on the Billboard chart and went Triple Platinum.

Besides Styx, Susy, and Frank both enjoy listening to Richie Havens’ work from 1976, The End of the Beginning. Known for his intense rhythmic guitar style, soulful covers, folk songs and opening performance at the Woodstock Festival, the folk singer remains loved by both Frank and Susy.

Susy’s middle-aged boy, Josh Klein grew up in the Eighties and Nineties. Perhaps that explains his appreciation of ZZ Top. His favorite single and video from the band have to be “Sleeping Bag,” the single off the 1985 cut, Afterburner. The synthesizers and drum machines used with Texas blues beats helped make the release a financial success, going several times platinum.

Josh’s older sister, Nancy Taylor, simply adores her Pure Prairie League record, If the Shoe Fits. The fifth cut from the American country band. The 1976 LP kicks off with an upbeat, feel in “Tears” and “Take It Before You Go.”  Following a few other infectious cuts, the album rounds out with the comfortable “It’s All On Me.” If the Shoe Fits reached #22 on the Billboard chart.

Some are grandparents, while others are middle-aged, or even young millennials. It makes no difference. Melbourne / Space Coast luxury homeowners tend to love their classic rock on vinyl.
