If you are a movie fan, you should make sure that you have one of the best films ever made, 2007’s The Bucket List in your Coral Springs home. Rob Reiner directed Jack Nicholson in one of the icon’s last pictures before he retired from the spotlight. The joker portrays Edward, a terminally ill cancer patient in this heartwarming dramedy. The corporate gent is sharing a hospital room with Morgan Freeman, a blue-collar mechanic named Carter who’s also suffering the same fate. As Edward cleverly tells his roommate, “Don’t buy any green bananas.” Rather than staying in for their last few painful months on earth, experiencing chemotherapy, the odd couple breaks out of the hospital and get moving on a risky list of adventures before they kick the bucket.

The two Oscar winners take their illnesses as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to put “some moves on” and create a checklist to see the world together in three months. Carter narrates, Edward and Carter experience more in their “last days on Earth than most people manage to ring out of a lifetime.” In their attempt to “go out with guns blazing,” the optimists treat the scenario as an opportunity. They embark on an African safari, see Egyptian pyramids, India’s Taj Mahal, the French Riviera, ride motorcycles along the Great Wall of China, race Shelby 350s, skydive, buy silk suits in Hong Kong, eat Tibetan ice cream, consume plenty of caviar, and witness something majestic like the Himalayas. One gets a tattoo and kisses the most beautiful girl in the world, while the other laughs until he cries. Finally, they both help a complete stranger.

Edward is a self-made billionaire who runs hospitals, not health spas. Despite being hitched four times, the only successful marriage he ever had was with his work. The fact becomes painfully obvious when he is alone after major surgery. But Carter is the opposite. A hard-working auto mechanic with grandchildren who serves as a walking encyclopedia made for Jeopardy. Alone in their hospital room, they form a connection while discussing life, death, family, lovers and faith. Sean Haynes, otherwise known as “Just Jack” from Will & Grace, has a supporting role, as does Morgan’s real-life son, Alfonso Freeman.

Men and women with homes for sale in Coral Springs feel that the original story does get a bit dramatic when Carter leaves his family behind to venture around the globe. The plot thickens again when he tries to get Edward back in touch with his bitter daughter. But the funny moments are priceless. For example, did you know where the rarest beverage in the world comes from? And wait until you hear Edward’s three things that a man in his golden years should never do.

The dying characters certainly find the joy in their lives before passing away. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman are truly wonderful together. After watching The Bucket List in your Coral Springs luxury home, you just may remember to stop and smell the roses a bit more often. After all, you too will laugh until you cry.
