When on vacation in the amazing city of Seattle, Oviedo real estate owners can explore the world-renowned Space Needle, as well as the Experience Music Project (EMP), a museum paying homage to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam, to name a few. True, the city is almost as expensive to visit as San Francisco, but Seattle is noticeably cleaner and much more natural in its surroundings.

Resting in the shadow of the city’s famous Space Needle built for a World’s Fair in the 1930s, people with homes for sale in Oviedo can look directly down at Seattle’s museum representing “energy and fluidity of music.” The Experience Music Project is a dynamic museum dedicated to tracing the roots of rock ‘n roll, exploring creativity and innovation expressed through American music. Multibillionaire Paul Allen, who co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates, built the 140,000-square-foot EMP. After spending eight years fusing textures and colors, EMP opened its doors of the $240 million project in June of 1997. Besides live performances in the night, the museum captures and reflects the essence of rock, from its roots in jazz, soul, gospel, country and the blues.  An enormous cylinder stretching three stories high displays fifty-five vintage, world-changing guitars.

On the Artist’s Journey ride, people with Oviedo homes for sale are reminded of an Epcot expedition, creeping along in front of a film of music’s timeline. The Hendrix Gallery is filled with nothing but Jimi’s creative classics for the pure enjoyment of one’s eyes and ears, including rare press photos, posters, flowered shirts, felt hats, and floral jackets that once belonged to the legend. Visitors can eye Jimi’s notebooks full of Electric Ladyland’s handwritten lyrics or other familiar words scribbled on hotel napkins.  On display is the signed contract for Jimi’s Woodstock set from July 1969, together with his white Feder Stratocaster that he played “The Star-Spangled Banner’ on at the same show.

In one room known as the Northwest Passage, the museum documents the development of Seattle’s small, isolated community through the 1990’s grunge scene, and its flourishing aftermath. On display is Kurt Cobain’s first electric guitar, along with Nevermind’s handwritten lyrics. There is 1991’s Billboard chart showing Nirvana knocking Michael Jackson out of the #1 record, and newspaper articles discussing 1994’s loss of the most powerful poet of Generation X.

By 1995, a new spokesman arose out of Seattle known as Pearl Jam who revived the scene despite fame’s many obstacles. Pearl Jam went on to play the rock star game by their own rules. EMP displays front man Eddie Veddar on a 1996 cover of Time magazine. Folks see thousands of rock’s best photos, press passes, ticket stubs and outrageous outfits from essential concerts. Paul McCartney’s guitar and the harmonica once belonging to the Bob Dylan. The sound of trumpets and violins flow out of EMP’s funky cocktail bar that served beer and wine. Guests listen to live music while kicking back on a retro stainless-steel stool. EMP’s gift shop sports Seattle-style clothes, CDs, and books for all visitors living in Oviedo luxury homes.
