Just about every man, woman, and child living in Bradenton real estate who appreciates classic folk rock has love and respect for Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Still making millions with record sales and recent tours, the band had been recording classics for decades. Let’s take a look at some of the boys’ timeless works.

David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and the Godfather of Grunge, Neil Young released Déjà Vu in 1970. The album stands as one of the quintessential cuts of the hippie counterculture. Each song on the CD is remarkable, as “Carry On,” “Teach Your Children,” “Almost Cut My Hair,” “Our House,” and “Woodstock” contains a social relevance that helped pioneer the folk-rock genre.

Speaking of 1969’s legendary festival, Woodstock: Music from the Original Soundtrack and More is three discs’ worth of material. On top of the Who, Janis Joplin, Santana, and Joe Cocker, there’s the jaw-dropping Jimi Hendrix version of the “Star Spangled Banner,” along with Crosby Stills Nash and Young’s live takes of “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Sea of Madness,” and “Wooden Ships.” The soundtrack hit stores in 1970 as well. Woodstock Two is the second live release of the historical show. Originally released as 1971 as a double LP set, the three days’ worth of muddy fun and music features a tamer sound than the first, with a lot of acoustic, folk, ballads, and blues pieces. Highlights include Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, and CSNY’s “Guinevere.”

In 1988, the four talents put out American Dream. “Compass” is their tender and introspective song of wisdom mixed with personal tragedy, youthful foolishness, and self-destructive mistakes, while “Nighttime for General” portrays Crosby’s paranoid political views.

One the bandmember’s solo careers, one of the best pieces of work for a home for sale in Bradenton’s library is David Crosby’s Voyage. Released in 2006, the 3-CD box set delivers 52 solo selections, as well as work with his band members from CSNY. Possessing one of the finest set of pipes in music, Crosby and his package span timeless philosophical, poetic, and political material from 1966 to 2006.

The first two CDs of the compilation are placed in chronological order, from the Byrds’ “Eight Miles High” through the next two decades’ solo material, the longhaired idealist’s lengthy career. Highlights include “Woodstock,” the chilling falsetto on 1971’s “Music Is Love,” “Déjà Vu,” the emotional ode to his dying mother “Guinnevere,” and a duet with Joni Mitchell. There are also transcendental jazz, classical, and Indian harmonies off of 2004’s collaboration with Nash, including “Through Here Quite Often.”

The third installment includes sixteen previously unreleased tracks, entails live versions and alternative mixes. Along with “Cut My Hair and “Triad,” most notable is “Cowboy Movie” is a 10-minute opus from 1970 featuring both young Neil and the late Jerry Garcia on lead guitar. Voyage also has “Traction in the Rain” and “Lee Shore,” showing off Crosby’s immeasurable vocals. The third CD of outtakes and live versions is remarkable, and the enclosed booklet is beautiful.  Meanwhile, the initial two discs of Voyage are simply essential for any classic rock fan’s Bradenton luxury home.
