Eric Clapton stands as the only person on Earth to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on three separate occasions: with the Yardbirds, Cream, and as a solo artist. He is also ranked as the 2nd best guitarist ever by Rolling Stone magazine, losing the Number One seat to Jimi Hendrix.

Aventura real estate owners will never forget when guitar legend Eric Clapton made it to South Florida. He strolled through Miami-Dade County approximately 10 years ago delivering decades’ worth of blues classics with intensity to Miami’s American Airlines Arena. The Hall of Famer revisited timeless singles from throughout his dynamic career.

After Robert Cray received a warm welcome by thousands for his 35-minute opening set, the arena went black. Under dozens of beaming lights and two video monitors, Clapton appeared with “Pretending.” The guitarist, then 61-years-old, wore a white-button-down, black jeans, and a clean shave under his bifocals. Clapton clenches his eyes, swaying head side-to-side, feeling the blues, as “I Shot the Sheriff” drove straight into “Got to Get Better.” The optimist performed jaw-dropping finger work.

“Thank you very much,” Clapton talked to the crowd for the first time and introduced his mates on stage to people with homes for sale in Aventura. Along with a drummer, two keyboard players, and a couple backup singers, spectators were introduced to guitarists Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks, who was supposedly named after Clapton’s renowned band 27 years ago. Despite the frontman’s potent solos in “Old Love” and “Anyday,” the expert allowed each protegee to play signature licks. All three craftsmen threw smiles back and forth, as each one complimented the other’s immeasurable talent.

A short acoustic set included “Key to the Highway,” “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out” accompanied by a kazoo, and “San Francisco Bay Blues.” “Running on Faith” was heard, and the pace of the blistering guitar work picked up with “Motherless Children,” and “Little Queen of Spades.” Everyone was on their feet during “After Midnight.”

Miami embraced even more back-catalogue favorites, such as the slow-paced “Wonderful Tonight,” as well as the potent “Layla.” The dateless number, followed by its familiar Piano Exit, never grows old. Clapton was on autopilot. Thousands were out of their seats dancing, addicted to the honest message, “She don’t lie.”  Following an extremely short encore, the band reappeared with Robert Cray singing “Crossroads.” The exhilarating number ranked as the world’s #1 Best Blues Anthem in Classic Rock magazine. Blending Robert Johnson’s “Traveling Riverside Blues” and “Cross Road Blues,” Clapton’s version has become a customary and ideal conclusion to the phenomenal show.

Besides introducing a band member every now and then, the veteran spent zero time conversing with fans who own Aventura homes for sale. But it’s not like his followers paid good money to hear Mr. Clapton’s war stories. And no, Clapton never played “Sunshine of Your Love” on his black Strat or Gibson ES-335. Nor did he switch up his set-list from previous dates this fall. But if it ain’t broke…
