These days, people can find bathrooms in all shapes and colors when searching for the right Coral Gables real estate. While some are too large, others may be a bit too small. Perhaps that color looks awful on a sink, and who would ever want a bathtub in that shape? To each his or her own. Of course, there are some trends on the South Florida real estate market that are being seen less and less, as homebuyers simply do not want them in their homes.

For a while, folks were going for a minimalist look with zero clutter in the room. There were no pictures on the wall, zero rugs, and absolutely nothing on the counter, from a toothbrush to a stack of magazines. Like it or not, this trend is over. After all, it is not appropriate for people who actually have to live in the house. For every piece of clutter that is kept out of sight, you need to find somewhere for it to be stored. And it’s not like people have tons of closet space in the bathroom. Besides, you need that space for towels and extra toilet paper, rather than your deodorant and dental floss.

In the last few years, potential buyers do not want to sea giant bathtubs in homes for sale in Coral Gables. While they may look pretty chic, they simply are not practical for any homeowner. As a matter of fact, a giant piece of porcelain can have a negative effect on a home’s resale value. A home doesn’t need more than one tub, and as long as it takes care of the kids and the puppies, there is no need to be extravagant. Besides, how often will you really use it? Folks tend to fill their bathtubs less than a dozen times a year.

Speaking of luxuries that are not necessary, having a pair of sinks in one bathroom is now considered a waste of space. Even if mom and dad are brushing their teeth at the same time, buyers prefer having more open space. Of course, if there are already two sinks in your master bedroom’s bathroom, there’s no need to begin a new construction project and rip one of them out. Instead, put up new shelves above or around one of the sinks to store everything from an extra toothbrush to medicine.

When it comes to putting your medicine bottles away, more and more Coral Gables luxury homes are relying on open shelves than ever before. Not unlike kitchens, men and women like to look at the attractive products in the closets, from new plush towels to expensive hairspray. Of course, laxatives and tampons can still be put away and remain out of sight in a woven basket or two.

Finally, the trend of keeping your bathroom completely white is dead. I suppose homeowners didn’t like seeing every piece of dirt that was tracking onto the carpet or wiped onto a towel. Nowadays, people see various colors, as well as designs in their practical bathrooms.
