Nancy Taylor is a middle-aged professional who owns a gorgeous piece of Palm Beach Gardens real estate. Living with two beautiful boys, Nancy does her best to pay the bills, while properly educating her kids. Just later week, Nancy’s oldest boy, Justin, was given an assignment for his history class. Justin had to pick one subject, as well as one year, and discuss everything important that occurred when a person combines the two. Justin picked the year his mother was born, along with his favorite subject, music. More specifically, the boy focused his project on mass media that was created in the year 1967. After all, Nancy taught him how important 1967 was for shaping popular music around the world.

It was 50 years ago today, and the pop music scene would never be the same again. In January, the American poet Jim Morrison and his mates, The Doors appeared out of Los Angeles with the Number One hit “Light My Fire.” The debut album reached Number 2 in the United States and Number 43 in the UK. The single is still a radio favorite among men, women, and children living in homes for sale in Palm Beach Gardens.

By February, San Francisco was becoming the home of acid music, thanks to bands like Jefferson Airplane. The Byrds were getting international acclaim with the single “So You Want to Be a Rock n’ Roll Star,” and the Rolling Stones made a huge stink on Sullivan when they performed “Let’s Spend the Night Together,” as Mick Jagger continually rolled his eyes onstage. Best of all, the Beatles “Penny Lane” reached Number 1 in the States and Number 2 in the UK.

In March, Aretha Franklin finally won some respect with her single, “I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You,” and the art rock genre was created by Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground. The Grateful Dead out of Northern California recorded their first studio album two months prior to the legendary Jimi Hendrix debut LP, Are You Experienced?

On June 2nd, the Beatles changed the world with its first concept album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Rolling Stones’ Flowers hit the streets a little later in the summer, just prior to Syd Barrett and his quartet out of London, Pink Floyd, releasing their first record, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. In October, the Doors came out with a second smash, Strange Days, followed by the Fab Four’s Magical Mystery Tour in November.

After The Who Sell Out was released in December, Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” became a success on the singles chart. At the same time, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder put Motown on the map, while both the Kinks and Simon and Garfunkel became household names. Palm Beach Gardens luxury homeowners can certainly agree that 1967 was not a bad year to be alive for lovers of true rock and roll, even if the mighty Zeppelin didn’t begin its flight for another year.
