Tomorrow is Independence Day. Do you have big plans? There is bound to be some type of fiesta taking place tomorrow at some piece of Palm Beach Gardens real estate. Maybe it’ll be a barbecue party by the pool in the afternoon. If not, it may be a giant get together in some mansion’s living room. Whatever the case may be, men and women are going to be having a marvelous time at various parties to celebrate this 4th of July.

Robin Kane is a 43-year-old businesswoman who retired as an Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Though the young woman recently moved back to the area, Robin grew up going to middle school and high school with other kids from Palm Beach Gardens luxury homes. To let everyone know she was back in town, Robin decided to throw a giant gala at her parents’ place. After all, they are in California for a week visiting her brother in San Diego.

Robin made one post about throwing an Independence Day party with a bar and a pool on Facebook, and it all took off from there. Within minutes, she had dozens of “Likes,” positive responses, and various questions about the address and the start time. Friends shared with their friends. Before she knew it, Robin’s party was growing bigger in numbers than she ever prepared for.

Now she has to prepare. How will she be able to make enough snacks? How much money can she for ask from her friends? Maybe, they can all sit around and watch a classic film from their teenage years?

As soon as the party begins, there will be all types of groups at her house. Some will be jocks, while others were headbangers or computer nerds. That’s when they will all sit around and enjoy a classic film from all of their childhoods, 1984’s Sixteen Candles.

Preoccupied with her older sister’s approaching wedding, Molly Ringwald’s family forgets her 16th birthday. The poor girl has to make it through her classes, the bus ride home, an embarrassing dinner with visiting grandparents, and a dance in the gymnasium. The script’s humorous peer pressure and puppy love make for an unforgettable birthday.

Sixteen Candles’ greatest asset is a Chinaman foreign exchange student named Long Duck Dong. In time, the “Donger” meets his own “sexy girlfriend.”  A young John Cusack also makes a notable appearance as a putz, while his sister Joan is always wearing a neck brace. Finally, Anthony Michael Hall stars as the freshman geek who experiences the night of his life with the Homecoming Queen. Don’t worry mothers, he puts his head-gear on before going to sleep in a Rolls-Royce. They just don’t make the comedies like they used to.

Regardless of where Robin or anybody else with a home for sale in Palm Beach Gardens decides to go this year to celebrate the 4th of July, everyone at the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty family hopes they have a safe and healthy Independence Day.
