If there is one thing that Palm Beach Gardens real estate owners tend to appreciate it is quality music. That’s why so many men and women may enjoy seeing the 2009 DVD Pink Floyd: The Dark Side Interviews. The film contains priceless conversations with each musician of the legendary Pink Floyd. The documentary is introduced by an older gentleman asking the band why their music is so darn loud on a black and white television show in the late 60s. As the movie progresses, we get to see chats with every key member of Floyd, from Andrew King, their one-time manager in the 1960s to the late Syd Barrett.

Folks with homes for sale in Palm Beach Gardens can see video footage of Syd talking about the differences between Floyd and popular pop music of the time. Drummer Nick Mason describes Syd as an easy-going, well-rounded genius, as well as being influenced by the meaningful Beatles. Keyboard player Richard Wright discusses working on Piper at the Gates of Dawn in Abbey Road Studios, next door to the Fab Four doing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. He tells the story of Paul and Linda McCartney’s voices being recorded for their work, despite never being used. Also, Sgt. Pepper’s alone changed his perspective of what musicians could do with an album. Mason recalls bass player Roger Waters took over as the bandleader after Syd, growing into a terrific songwriter in the 1970s. Waters provided Pink Floyd with a theatrical framework, while David Gilmore assisted with a kind of musical edge. Gilmour states “Roger, he was the main driving force behind what was going on.”

The film then goes into the boys’ continuous arguments after Dark Side’s success, leading up to Waters’ resignation in 1985. He even states that the name Pink Floyd has nothing to do with him anymore. Speaking of the Pink Floyd name, most men and women with Palm Beach Gardens homes for sale don’t know that it is honoring two blues icons. In 1967, Syd came up with his legendary band’s title by borrowing the first names of Pink Anderson and fellow Carolina artist, Floyd Council.

Pinkney “Pink” Anderson lived from the year 1900 to 1974. He was an old-time singer from South Carolina who kept his talents in tune with a small guitar and harmonica. But feuds with that old heart of his forced him into early retirement in the 50s. He does make an appearance in the 1963 film The Bluesmen. His son, Little Pink Anderson keeps the spirit of the Delta alive with live shows in Georgia.

Floyd Council was another blues icon who became famous in the early Twentieth Century. Born in North Carolina, Floyd began his career on the streets of Chapel Hill in the 1920s, performing with his two brothers. In the 1960s, the devil hit the mortal man with a stroke, paralyzing his throat muscles and motor skills. A fatal heart attack hit Floyd in 1976, just three years after Dark Side conquered the globe and ended up in thousands of Palm Beach Gardens luxury homes.
