If you are like so many millions of people on this planet, you may have recently got a high cholesterol scare. Do not despair. You no longer have to make drastic changes to your life or even depend on expensive medications to return to good health. All you must do is make little substitutions in how you eat in order to quickly and safely lower your cholesterol.

To begin, a Parkland real estate owner just has to start making small substitutes in his or her meals and snacks. A perfect example is not pouring croutons over your salad. Rather, you should cover your greens with walnuts to get a healthy crunch. Real croutons have too many carbohydrates. These carbs can increase your body’s amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), also known as the bad cholesterol. Instead, you can depend on walnuts to add flavor to your salad, along with beneficial polyunsaturated fat and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), your good cholesterol. Meanwhile, you can always opt for healthier toppings, such as fruits and almonds, instead of a variety of cheeses.

When it comes to pouring a dressing over your salad, forget about the high-fat blue cheese, or anything else that’s thick and creamy. Instead, you should be using ranch vinaigrette or vinegar with a bit of lemon juice. Doing so will help lower your cholesterol. Choosing a wiser dressing will also keep you from feeling bloated, and even assist in any weight loss efforts. Often times, people order salads that are nice and healthy, but immediately ruin its benefits by pouring fattening dressing all over it. And avoid the bacon bits.

Drinking a little alcohol, such as red wine, can actually be good for your cholesterol level. You just can’t overdo it. After all, fruity cocktails and margaritas are packed with fattening carbs. Beer can add a few inches to your waistline as well. But red wine has only a small fraction of the carbohydrates found in a margarita. It also contains flavonoids and other antioxidants that should increase your HDL level and bring down your LDL level. Doctors tell people with homes for sale in Parkland that drinking two glasses of red wine a day to get the most benefits for your heart.

You may enjoy spreading some butter on your food. After all, butter is simply too rich in saturated fat and can lead directly to high cholesterol. You will be much better off if you swap the fattening fat with healthy fat. In other words, start relying on margarine. Otherwise, you can use a spread made of vegetable oil, if not olive oil. You don’t even need butter to grease up your pan before cooking. Olive oil can also do the trick without harming your body’s overall cholesterol levels.

For dessert, you can always enjoy a fat-free Greek yogurt. Many men and women living in Parkland luxury homes usually prefer the taste over regular ice cream. Perhaps they are just aware of Greek yogurt’s health benefits. Their waistlines certainly do.
