For the last few decades, thousands of Naples real estate owners have been gathering around their living rooms to enjoy timeless pieces of vinyl. Sometimes they get up and dance, while other times they chill out on the couch. Some records bring back good memories, while others can draw heartbreaking tears. Let’s take a look at some of the most important records in South Florida homeowners’ lives.

Henry Williams is a middle-aged gentleman with a home for sale in Naples. Since he was a little kid, Henry has loved British rock and roll. In fact, one of his first memories was watching the Beatles’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. After opening the door for so many other English acts, they began to pour over the Atlantic.

For starters, Muswell Hillbillies is the Kink’s wide-ranging collection released in 1971.  Named after the Muswell Hill area of London, where the band formed in the early 1960s, the LP focuses on the frustrations and stresses of modern life. The highly acoustic album is distinctive for its blending of American references with trademark English themes, especially in songs such as the title track and “Oklahoma USA.”

Henry also thinks that Eric Clapton is the god of guitar. His favorite live album is Live Cream comprised of four live tracks recorded in 1968 and one studio outtake from 1967. All the live tracks are extended versions of songs found on the band’s first studio release, Fresh Cream. Material includes “Sweet Wine,” as well as “Lawdy Mama” and “Rollin’ and Tumblin’” from the Fillmore West in San Francisco.

As much as Henry appreciates the big British acts ranging from the Beatles and the Stones to Pink Floyd to the mighty Led Zeppelin, he also has an ear for American folk. For instance, one of his favorite albums is the Mamas & Papas’ If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears, containing “California Dreamin’.” It is one of the few albums to have three separate covers. The first featured the group sitting in a bathtub beside a toilet and was pulled from stores after it was declared indecent. A second album cover was then released with a scroll over the toilet listing the hit songs on the album. A third album cover was later released with a closely cropped shot of the band surrounded by a black border that removed any hint that the picture was taken in a bathroom.

Speaking of American tunes, Henry also digs a piece by Aerosmith’s guitarist. Stemming from Boston, Joe Perry Project Equipped released Once a Rocker, Always A Rocker, the third release from Aerosmith’s guitarist in 1984. The album met the same fate as its predecessor, selling a meager 40,000 copies without any promotion whatsoever. Despite the poor sales, The Project went out on a final tour in support of the album. The following year, Perry rejoined Aerosmith, and the Project had been disbanded. At least the Naples luxury homeowner got to see the iconic musician many times onstage throughout South Florida.
