Onstage at Boca Black Box Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 2nd, American-Jewish reggae artist Matisyahu, will entertain a young and energetic crowd of Boca Raton real estate owners with his unique brand of Hasidic rap meshed with roots reggae. The artist will be backed by a full band of musicians and have folks dancing on their feet for hours at a time.

Born in Pennsylvania and raised in White Plains, New York, the young man formerly known as Matthew Miller grew into the phenomenon known as Matisyahu, the Hebrew equivalent of “Matthew.” Sure, Christian rock has been around for decades. But not even Madonna can move a crowd like this Hasidic Jew.

The artist began selling out venues on tour 11 years ago. He became known around the industry for putting on spectacular concerts. Pretty soon, he cut a Number One single on alternative rock radio; “King without a Crown.” By the time he played at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Matisyahu was becoming a huge star known for improvising his thrilling sets onstage.

Under a lengthy beard, the talented artist will entertain Boca Raton luxury homeowners with inspirational lyrics, backed by a full piece band of talent. Spectators can expect to hear tracks off his debut release, Shake Off the Dust… Arise, as well as his sophomore cut, Youth. Joined with newer material, Matisyahu is expected to keep himself busy remaking classics, such as the Police’s “Message in a Bottle” and John Lennon’s emotional “Watching the Wheels.”

Matt Powers is a South Florida real estate agent with multiple Boca Raton homes for sale. As a diehard fan of Matisyahu for years, Matt shared his favorite quote by the artist for inspiration. “I think there is a tendency for people to get rigid and caught up in their beliefs of what is right and wrong, and they lose sight of humanity. Being human has to come first before right or wrong.”

The man’s performance is sure to entail a compelling mix of ancient and modern sounds and ideas. The stark acoustic guitar-driven track “What I’m Fighting For,” the syncopated African rhythms of “Ancient Lullaby,” and the burbling bass of “Jerusalem,” have been known to carry audience members with homes for sale in Boca Raton miles away to a kibbutz in the Middle East.

Men and women, young and old are extremely excited to travel to Boca Black Box Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 2nd to see the show. No, there may not be 80,000 screaming fans in the venue, like Matisyahu saw at Bonnaroo, but the intimate setting should still be ideal for viewing the artist’s lyrical gymnastics.

Backed by gifted guitarist and well-known New York musician Aaron Dugan, drummer Tim Keiper, and keyboard player Big Yuki, Matisyahu is sure to impress South Floridians in March. The band’s messages, as well as their grooves, are personal. At the same time, South Floridians can expect a bit of improvisation onstage in Boca Raton.
