Boca Raton luxury homes are just one of the locations where Americans from around the country come to retire. If a recent study from Freddie Mac is any indication, this trend is not expected to change.

The Freddie Mac 55+ Survey finds that these adults expect their retirement years to be good ones, which may include purchasing a home of their choosing like Boca Raton luxury homes.

Homeownership Important Says 55+ Americans

Older Americans born before 1961 are optimistic about their housing preferences and perceptions as they move closer to retirement age. The Freddie Mac 55+ survey found most of their respondents were quite satisfied with their living situation with 64 percent reporting feeling very satisfied with their current home and 59 percent feeling the same way about their communities. They also gave a thumbs up to the quality of life as more than half (54 percent) noting high satisfaction.

Most felt as though owning their personal home, such as Boca Raton luxury homes, made the best financial sense. This applied not only during their current and anticipated stage of life, but they also believed homeownership was financially smart for younger age groups as well. Specifically, 96 percent reported homeownership was important finically for people who were either between 35-49 years of age or married with children. These well-lived individuals felt homes like Boca Raton luxury homes, were important whether a person had children or not.

According to their life experience, these Americans felt that owning a home worked in delivering stronger financial stability to them and their families as well as a sense of a well-live and satisfied life.  Homeownership works for them personally and in fulfilling the American Dream.

Last Move May Be to Boca Raton Luxury Homes

Even though those this age group of Americans love their homes, communities and quality of life, slightly less than half expect that they will be making at least one more move. Close to 40 percent expect to pack their belongings and settle into another property at some time, and 70 percent of that plan to buy, which is great for Boca Raton real estate professionals.

What these future home buyers are looking for as older Americans includes the following factors:

  • 46 percent cite affordability of living as important when moving to a particular community
  • 44 percent cite required amenities that will make living there comfortable for many years following their retirement
  • 41 percent cite having to do less maintenance
  • 31 percent cite wanting to move closer in proximity to other members of their family
  • 30 percent cite wanting to move into a property where they do not have to do their own maintenance work in caring for the property, such as yard work
  • 28 percent cite wanting to be in a community with a high walkable score
  • 25 percent cite having a choice in services for adults in their age group
  • 19 percent cite wanting to live in a warmer climate
  • 19 percent cite wanting to live in a smaller sized place than their current home
  • 17 percent cite wanting access to public transportation
