Port St Lucie real estate owners tend to love their classic rock. Even more so, the men and women in these properties appreciate classic rock from the Sixties to the early Eighties. Let’s look at some of the folks and their most beloved pieces of vinyl.

Sean McCoy is a 52-year-old businessman, husband, and father of two who lives in a 4-bedroom Port St Lucie luxury home. Ever since his children were babies, Sean and his wife, Mellissa, would put on records and sing to the kids when they crawled into bed. One of his favorites to play was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 1978 release You’re Gonna Get It. The cut features straight forward singles with their signature jangle, including “When the Time Comes” and “Too much Ain’t Enough.” Every song is made up of clever hooks, harmonies, and lyrics about one thing, women.

Another one of Sean’s favorites is by the four most famous Irishmen on the planet, U2. The boys’ 1984 record, The Unforgettable Fire, glorifies their trademark sound, the Edge’s massive depth of field, containing a continual rhythm on songs such as the ode to MLK, “Pride (In the Name of Love).” In interviews, Bono explained he used lyrics on the “visual” album to allow listeners to form their own meanings from his words, and his verses were written with enough imagery to allow listeners to draw their own interpretations. The Unforgettable Fire reached No. 12 in the States and turned gold three months after its release. Eventually, the record sold more than one million copies, giving U2 their first platinum album.

Mellissa has a few of her own favorite records. For example, there is one that makes her think of when she was first married, before the kids were born and before they found their wonderful home for sale in Port St Lucie. It is 1971’s Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. Traffic’s platinum-selling American hit includes the jazzy impressionism title track, and the more straightforward funky R&B charmers “Light Up or Leave Me Alone” and “Rock & Roll Stew.” Driven by Chris Wood’s endearing flute and Steve Winwood’s melancholic wail, the record is a potent mixture of jazz, blues, soul, and pop influences.

The woman also has an affection for Purple Rain, the late Prince’s supreme moment.  The 1984 release and the hit movie feature “Let’s Go Crazy” and the scorching hot “Darling Nikki.” The fiery guitar solos bring life to any party.

Other records in Mellissa’s collection of favorites include Billy Joel’s An Innocent Man from 1983. It is a heartfelt tribute to the doo-wop and rhythm-n-blues based music of the late 1950s and 60s. From “For the Longest Time” to “Leave a Tender Moment Alone,” the songs range in mood and tempos, reflecting romantic constructions.

The couple’s oldest son, Jason, has a strong love for British punk. For instance, he listens to the Kinks delivering gorgeous, ethereal rock anthems on 1984’s Word of Mouth. As the teenager explains, the lyrically and musically masterful punk anthems, such as “Do it Again,” “Living on a Thin Line” and “Sold Me Out” stand the test of time.
