There are virtually no classic rock fans living in Fort Myers real estate who have no feelings about the sad passing of Tom Petty. Born and raised in Gainesville, the Florida boy ventured to Los Angeles in a van and made decades’ worth of hits, ranging from the iconic “American Girl” to “Free Fallin’” and “Yer So Bad.” Fortunately, the men and women can chill at home and pay tribute to the late Traveling Wilbury by listening to some timeless pieces of vinyl, including some of Petty’s influences, peers, and pupils.

Petty’s love for rock and roll began when he was just a kid in the Sunshine State and he heard the real blues, B.B. King Live in Cook County Jail. The work stands as one of the greatest concert recordings of all time. The legend performs some of his best for an Illinois state prison, including “Worry, Worry” and “How Blue Can You Get.” Now this is the raw blues at its best!

Folks with homes for sale in Fort Myers can then listen to some 70s jams. Aqualung is the fourth studio album by Jethro Tull from 1971.  The acoustic guitar melodies on “Cross-Eyed Mary” and “Locomotive Breath” make for the Tull’s finest piece of work.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s 1973’s self-titled debut is considered their greatest work. Kicking off with “Gimme Your Money Please,” followed by “Hold Back the Water” and the bluesy “Blue Collar,” the heavy guitar riffs and snarling vocals make the cut a classic.

People can also enjoy the records of another legend who recently passed, the Allman Brother’s Gregg Allman. In 1977, the man and his wife at the time, Cher, released Allman and Woman, also known as Two the Hard Way. The record features romantic melodies, such as “I Love Makin’ Love to You” and “Love Me,” along with Allman’s Southern rock.

While Gregg was off singing the blues with his family, Cher made a solo career. In 1979, her Take Me Home album brought her to the spotlight, selling over 500,000 copies and reaching #25 on Billboard chart. Songs include the bluesy “Guitar Groupie,” the country “It’s Too Late to Love Me Know,” and “My Song (Too Far Gone).” Sales must have been boosted by the image of a scantily-clad woman in a Viking outfit on the cover.

Then there are the thousands of music fans in Fort Myers luxury homes who prefer the sounds of the big-haired 80s. A modern classic is Bon Jovi’s 1985 release Fahrenheit. The New Jersey boys’ second cut sold in excess of a million copies. The work has generated a cult following among some fans due to the huge hooks and in singles such as “In and Out of Love” and “Only Lonely.”

Finally, a handful of South Florida homeowners appreciate Crosby Stills Nash & Young American Dream from 1988. “Compass” is the legendary quartet’s tender and introspective song of wisdom bought with personal tragedy, youthful foolishness, and self-destructive mistakes, while Crosby’s “Nighttime for General” portrays his paranoid political views.
