Coral Gables luxury homes can range from the affordable to the unbelievably exclusive. When you are a world-renown athletic like Alex Rodriguez, you can bet your Coral Gables luxury homes property is going to be the latter.

Architectural Digest recently visited the property of this New York Yankees star purchased in 2013 off the Coral Gables luxury homes real estate rolls. He moved to this quiet piece of land from his Miami Beach contemporary estate that overlooked Biscayne Bay. Although Miami Beach is a great spot to settle in, especially when it sits on such a gorgeous waterfront, it is precisely this open access that hinders his style. The lack of privacy living along the water didn’t provide enough privacy for this highly sought after baseball star, which set him in motion to find an optimal hideaway.

Lot for the Ultimate in Coral Gables Luxury Homes

Set on finding a place that was close enough to the city of Miami yet isolated enough for secluded freedom that Rodriguez desired, a quest began. His sister is the one who found this lot in the Coral Gables luxury homes market that was the perfect solution for the peaceful and private getaway Rodriguez was looking for.

After purchasing the property, Rodriguez hired Paul Fischman and Ralph Choeff. The two architects worked alongside interior decorator Briggs Edward Solomon to craft a home that had the distinct style to match the vision Rodriguez had in mind. The all pro hitter also had a heavy hand in the design as did two of his childhood friends, Jose Gomez and Jose More. The three launched a high-end construction company about eight years ago and join in on this project that created the 11,000 square foot single story modern masterpiece that offers forms that are sleek and overhangs that are striking. All six of these men worked together on this project that took just over a year to complete.

The Architectural Accents of Dream Coral Gables Luxury Homes

Rodriguez knows what he likes. This latest estate remained close to the ground primarily because Rodriguez wanted to accentuate a seamless flow between the interior and exterior surroundings. He wanted a direct connection to the grounds when inside. This is done with floor to ceiling glass which acts as many of the room’s walls. The home exudes a coherent and uninterrupted indoor-outdoor feel that soaks in the natural landscape of South Florida.

The backyard hosts a wet-edge pool with RH chaise lounges along the side, while an adjacent barbecue cabana features James Perse furniture. Christopher Cawley Landscape Architecture assisted in revamping the Coral Gables real estate, which boasts artificial grass along the grounds to conserve water.

Most of the rooms in his Coral Gables luxury homes property are predominately monochromatic. Complementing the singular color scheme are concrete expanses with walnut paneling. Floorboards are laid with reclaimed barn wood that is set in a herringbone pattern for just an extra dash of style. The kitchen features matte-finish oak cabinetry by ITalkraft that sets off gleaming tile ceiling-high backsplash, while the sink fittings are by Waterworks.

Writer Sam Cochran identified Rodriquez’s curate furnishings and artwork in the Architectural Design article as one that includes: vintage Gabriella Crespi cocktail table, several classic Warren Platner designs, a Theaster Gates piece partly composed of roof shingles, a provocative Sarah Lucas assemblage, and artworks by Joe Bradley, Dan Colen, and Nate Lowman.
