Released about a decade ago, the greatest guitarist in history’s most legendary set is now available to Coral Springs real estate owners on DVD, The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live at Monterey. An intimate group of friends and musicians met at Sam Ashton’s Coral Springs luxury home to see and talk about the flick.

Sam’s neighbor Jill owns two different homes for sale in Coral Springs. Being a history professor at Florida Atlantic University, she knows all of the little details about the Summer of Love June in 1967. The woman with a couple Coral Springs homes for sale explained that the festivities were held at the Monterey County Fairgrounds.

The music fans and spectators learned that more than 200,000 people attended the concert for a $1 entrance fee, netting nearly $200,000. In three days’ time, thirty-two acts performed, including the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He was undoubtedly the favorite among Coral Springs real estate owners.

The Coral Springs real estate owners watched in awe as Jimi’s band play a number in the background, while a graffiti artist paints a photo of the legend on a wall. Then a documentary describes him “knocking out the great blues.”

The Coral Springs real estate owners watched Jimi playing “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” adding guitar screams and moans like only he could. Jill taught the other Coral Springs real estate owners that the entire album of the same name was created by the Beatles not to be reproduced live. But that wasn’t going to stop Hendrix.

Following an introduction by the Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones, the Coral Springs real estate owners watched Hendrix play several of his timeless hits at Monterey, starting with “Killing Floor.” Wearing a pink feather boa, orange ruffled top, black vest, red slacks, and a psychedelic headband, the legend picks at his electric piece through his legs during “Foxy Lady.”

Jimi announces “It’s really out of sight here,” and dedicates Dylan’s a version of “Like a Rolling Stone” with heavy feedback to “everyone.” Hill told the other Coral Springs real estate owners that her favorite part is when he plucks strings with his teeth during a version of B.B. King’s “Rock Me Baby.”

Later, the Coral Springs real estate owners viewed Hendrix swinging his weapon behind his head during “The Wind Cries Mary.” He dances right up next to his giant amps and drops to his knees.

The favorite part for Coral Springs real estate owners seems to be when Hendrix covers his guitar with lighter fluid. He kisses it goodbye and lights a match. Sparks fly as it burns onstage. Jimi then grabs it, twirls it around and smashes it on the ground. The Coral Springs real estate owners were in complete awe of the theatrics.

The man grabs another piece to wind down Monterey with “Purple Haze.” It is completely mind-blowing how Jimi’s distortion comes across as pure art, rather than simply noise. The Coral Springs real estate owners agree that Jimi’s legendary appearance at Woodstock wouldn’t have even existed without the trend-setting Monterey Pop Festival.
