The most frightening movies that a Delray Beach real estate owner can watch have nothing to do with flesh eating monsters from outer space. They are more realistic and revolve around Mother Earth and the precious environment.

Chinatown is a classic film from 1974 starring Faye Dunaway and Jack Nicholson.  Inspired by the California Water Wars of the early 1900s, the picture is often considered the essential film noir movie. In fact, the US Library of Congress has labeled Chinatown as being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.” The joker stars as J. J. “Jake” Gittes, a private investigator hired to spy on the chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. He eventually figures out that the man plans to illegally annex part of LA to irrigate and develop it. Jack also stars in the 1990 sequel The Two Jakes. However, critic and box office reception were disappointing.

For starters, men, women, and children in homes for sale in Delray Beach will most probably enjoy seeing Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. The flick is wholesome fun for the entire family. Released in 2006, Ray Romano is the prehistoric voice of Manny, the masculine mammoth. John Leguizamo puts the stink into extinction, while Dennis Leary and Queen Latifah lend their voices as well. In the quest, the deep freeze is over and the ice-covered earth is starting to melt, which will bring about “doomsday.” All of the animals must unite in the desperate situation to survive the flooding of the glaciers and the melting of the ice caps in three days’ time. It’s quite a blunt hint towards global warming for a kids’ movie. Regardless, the animals manage to have a good time, riding icebergs that are comparable to the giant waterslides found at theme parks in Orlando.

An Inconvenient Truth may put a lump in spectators’ throats. As narrated by Al Gore, the candid and powerful documentary from 2006 tells of the myths and the realities associated with greenhouse gasses. Since losing the 2000 Presidential race, the inspirational man has been a spokesman against potential environmental disaster. Scientists have predicted a major catastrophe, entailing floods, droughts, epidemics and killer heat waves, not unlike the forces battled against in The Day After Tomorrow. Using humor and charm, Gore opens the eyes of people with Delray Beach homes for sale to our “planetary emergency.”

As far as the future of our environment as seen by Hollywood, James Cameron’s 3D Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time, beating out the same director’s Titanic, as well as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In approximately 200 years from now, Sam Worthington is a wounded Marine who gets stuck in the battle for another planet’s rich resources. Alien’s vixen Sigourney Weaver costars in the flick. Carrying a titanic budget, Avatar is a stellar journey of action and redemption.

Perhaps Hollywood has played a monumental role in spreading vital messages about our fragile environment to every individual living in Delray Beach luxury homes.
