My name is Mellissa McCloskey and I have been a Parkland real estate owner for a little more than a decade. Being a wife and mother of three children, my body has been through enough. However, nothing seems to be worse than growing old, looking like an old lady and losing all my memory skills. It is embarrassing when I have to continually ask my husband in the car where we are heading to when I’ve been told several times that we are going to the grocery store. Every time my kids hear me do something silly like that, they begin calling me an old senile lady that should be checked into an old folks’ home.

Linda Richards is a middle-aged mother of three just like me who recently purchased a gorgeous home for sale in Parkland. I can relate to her troubles remembering all the names of her children’s numerous friends. Then there are the many teachers who love to assign complicated homework. Who do you think the kids turn to for help? It is not like she remembers how to do algebra. Linda has performed plenty of homework online and even watched several educational videos to help her recall the little details.

The first technique to improve memory is to consume nutritional meals and snacks for a healthy diet. Skip the fat, as well as the alcohol and reach for carbohydrate-rich fruits and vegetables, such as grapes and broccoli. Do not eat too much saturated fat, or your memory and overall concentration skills may suffer. Research has concluded that high-saturated fat can lead to impaired memory in lab rats. Dark meat is higher in saturated fat than white meat. Butter, cream, cheese, ice cream, sour cream, whole milk and 2% milk are also high in both saturated fats and cholesterol. Margarine, skim milk and yogurt are healthier alternatives for your memory, as well as your heart and the size of your belly.

It is smart to eat as much omega 3s as possible. They can be found in foods like tuna, salmon, pumpkin seeds, and walnuts. Just watch out for the saturated fats that are found in red meat, as they can actually harm your concentration and memory skills.

It is also no secret that drinking water is good for your entire body, from your belly to your brain. Try to put down 8 glasses a day, if not more. If you require a little more taste in your drink, try green tea or cranberry juice, if not grape juice.

You should get enough sleep at night. It helps to get roughly 8 hours’ worth every night. Otherwise, your brain will not function well, having a direct effect on your body. Your diet also plays a huge part on your energy level.

Do not forget that working out your body sends more oxygen to your brain than normal. This is a good thing. In fact, your body will crave it over time. And why shouldn’t a Parkland luxury homeowner want a fit body, as well as a better mind?
