David Baker is a 42-year-old middle school English teacher, husband, and father of three large dogs that all live together on his Coral Springs real estate. The other day, David’s 9-year-old boy asked him an interesting question. “Which of our dogs is your absolute favorite?” Of course, David supplied the textbook answer that any parent would give. “I cannot answer the question because I love all my dogs equally, just like how I love you and your big sister equally.” But the boy still persisted. “If all four of our dogs were falling off a bridge, who would you save first?” Dad refused to answer the question, simply because he did not know what to say.

Later that night, David lay awake in his home for sale in Coral Springs pondering the question. Sure, it was simply hypothetical, but he could not get it out of his mind. Perhaps he would run to save Charlie first, simply because she had been with him the longest. The 11-year-old is a yellow Labrador Retriever who enjoyed giving kisses. Within seconds of him entering the front door to the house, Charlie would be jumping on him and licking his face. When David sat down, Charlie would plop herself beside him and lick his arm until he scratched her belly. Of course, that usually did not stop the kisses. While she was truly a love machine, Charlie also supplied his home with plenty of protection. Few burglars would dare think of entering his place with Charlie’s fearsome bark to scare them away.

About a year after David brought Charlie home, he got a 6-year-old Chocolate Lab named Terri at the pound on I-95 and Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. Right away, she and Charlie became best buds, wrestling for hours every day. What David appreciates the most about Terri is that she loves to go running. Every morning after breakfast, the canine stands at the front door and barks continuously until David gets dressed and takes her outside for their morning exercise. The dog drags the man up the street, through the neighborhood, and all around the surrounding Coral Springs luxury homes. They must cover 2 miles a day. It is a marvelous bonding experience. Unfortunately, Charlie is too old to keep up with them.

Another couple of years went by before David decided to add to his loving family. After doing plenty of research on the internet, he picked a black Lab named Marley that simply stole his heart. Not only is the 4-year-old the first male dog that David ever owned, he is also the largest. Marley weighs more than 120 pounds. He is too big to jump on the bed or the couch, which David doesn’t seem to mind. Marley is also the biggest baby he’s ever had. Marley is scared of his own shadow. If a tree branch hits the side of the house or he hears the neighbors playing basketball outside, the silly dog is shaking in the corner of David’s bedroom. Despite Marley’s fears, he too is a giant lover, not unlike Charlie. The black Lab and the yellow one like to lie on a rug and spend hours cleaning the top of David’s head with their tongues. Terri just watches it all from her spot on the sofa, and everybody in the house is content.
