Middle-aged men and women living in Fort Lauderdale real estate are already getting excited to experience the I Love The 90’s Tour on Saturday, August 19th at Pompano Beach Amphitheatre. The show features an impressive list of stars, including Miami’s own Vanilla Ice, TLC, Naughty by Nature, Kid N Play, Coolio, Blackstreet, Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath, Color Me Badd, Biz Markie, Kool Moe Dee, Young MC, and the ladies of Salt N Pepa.

Coming out of Queens, Salt N Pepa grew global fame in the mid-80s as one of the first female rap groups to be heard on the radio, as well as seen on MTV. The girls’ original DJ, Latoya Hanson, was replaced by Deidra Roper (DJ Spinderella) in 1986.

Winning awards is nothing new to the veterans of hip-hop, as Salt N Pepa have taken home the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for the single “None of Your Business.” They have also been nominated three other times for Grammy’s: 1989’s “Push It,” “Let’s Talk About Sex” in ’92, and 1995’s “Whatta Man” collaboration with En Vogue. “Whatta Man” also won three different MTV Video Music Awards for Best Dance Video, Best R&B Video, and Best Choreography in a Video. The 2nd Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors Honorees were even nominated for two American Music Awards that same year.

Salt N Pepa was originally known as Super Nature and grew fame for being one of the first all-female rap groups in the nation. They had a huge impact on the genre, as women often had negative portrays in rap lyrics and videos. Then Salt N Pepa came along and evened hip hop’s playing field, despite wearing skimpy clothes.

People in homes for sale in Fort Lauderdale may remember seeing Salt N Pepa reunite in 2006 for the Hip Hop Honors program on VH1. The group rapped onstage together for the first time in 6 years. They got back together as a group the following year, along with other entertainment endeavors. For instance, The Salt-n-Pepa Show aired on TV. While Pepa began putting together her series The Surreal Life and The Salt N Pepa Show showed their lives, as well as their return to the spotlight. Pepa even put together an autobiography, Let’s Talk About Pep, in 2008, examining the family and fame of the hip hop diva. The book even features a forward written by Queen Latifah. In 2011, the band headed out on their Legends of Hip Hop Tour sharing a bill with Rob Base, Slick Rick, Kurtis Blow, and Doug E Fresh.

It is safe to say that the show went so well that they are now touring again with the I Love The 90’s Tour. It doesn’t matter if you live in a West Palm Beach apartment, a Fort Lauderdale luxury home, or a Miami townhouse, you should make your way to Pompano Beach to see the I Love The 90’s Tour. It will be a blast for men, women, and children of all ages.
