Jupiter Luxury Homes Host the Best in Specialty License Plates

New buyers of Jupiter luxury homes are more than likely enjoying the process of settling into their new address. Lying on the northernmost edges of Palm Beach County, Jupiter is one of those places that many people just dream about living in. It has been ranked as one of the “Happiest Seaside Towns in America” in the country and for good reason. Jupiter’s waterways and golf greens are just two of the most frequently visited places in and around the vicinity of Jupiter real estate, and you will find many residents and visitors alike taking leisurely drives to these outdoor facilities and others.

What’s On the Back of Those Vehicles?

What many new residents and visitors to Jupiter luxury homes often find themselves puzzled by are the variety of license plates on the back of vehicles they find in these Jupiter entertainment sights as well as all over the state.

If you didn’t know, these plates are all Florida license plates that are registered and approved by the state. But what are they all for, how can people get them, and should new residents choose to register their vehicles with a specialty plate or not?

Registering Your Vehicle Under the State of Florida

For those just moving into Jupiter luxury homes, you have 10 days to have your vehicle registered and titled by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles once work begins in the state, children are registered for school in Florida, or residency is established through a purchase or lease of a Florida residence, like Jupiter luxury homes.

Some important information you need to know about ensuring your out-of-state vehicle remains in good standing now that you are a Florida resident.

First: You need to get a Florida driver’s license. Before you can do anything else with your vehicle, you need to have a valid driver’s license in the state of Florida.

Second: You need to secure Florida auto insurance. As a no-fault insurance state, Florida requires minimum limits of coverage that includes $10,000 of no-fault or personal injury insurance and $10,000 of property damage liability insurance.

Third: A Vehicle Identification Number and Odometer Verification form must be completed and verified by a police officer, car dealer, Florida Department of Motor Vehicle inspector, Florida Notary Public, Active duty military officers, provost marshal, or Navy legal man.

Fourth: An Application for Certificate of Title With / Without Registration must be completed and submitted along with the VIN and Odometer Verification documentation.

Fifth: Pay any new resident vehicle sales tax fees and registration amounts that may apply.

Choosing a State of Florida License Plate

It is during the fifth step listed above that you will decide if you would like a specialty license plate.

Florida offers more than 120 specialty plates which is more than any other state in the country. With this many to choose from, it should give new residents pause to consider which particular cause they would like their money to go toward.

Specialty plates are meant to raise funds and awareness for a particular group. An annual fee is assessed for the use of the specially designed license plate. The amount of the fees varies based on the type of license plate and is paid annually along with the standard Florida license plate.

The different causes currently are categorized under the headings of Environmental, Universities, Professional Sports, and Miscellaneous.

So now that you know, take a look through the plates and select your favorite! Welcome to Florida!
