A few months ago, my body was wiped out every morning when I got out of bed. Regardless of how much coffee I drank, I was still yawning when I got to the office. I would drag through the day until I made it home to the couch. I wasn’t even interested enough to converse with my family. I was too tired. This was no way to live. I had to get out of the house and try something exciting, like a family vacation.

That’s when my wife convinced me to try something new. As much as we love hanging out in our Lakewood Ranch real estate, we decided that going to California for the weekend was a marvelous idea. After all, the weather out there is almost perfect, as long as no earthquakes take place.

When my wife and I ventured from our home for sale in Lakewood Ranch to beautiful California for only a few days, we never expected to have enough energy to do everything that we had planned. After all, we were booked with fun and exciting adventures every morning, day and night. For starters, we arrived in San Francisco on a chilly summer day. Of course, we had to take a scenic tour on a double-decker bus. We made our way through Chinatown and visited the Golden Gate Bridge. We enjoyed an outside tour of Alcatraz and made our way to the Picasso museum, as well as the city’s local Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. For dessert, we enjoyed ice cream on the historic Haight and Ashbury. Not bad for one day of sightseeing.

For our second day, the Mrs. and I flew to Los Angeles to save time traveling. From the airport, we drove directly to Venice Beach. Cruising along the boardwalk, we enjoyed watching everything from professional skateboarders to bodybuilders, sand sculptors, musicians, and comedians. Later, we ventured to the famous Rodeo Drive to get a taste of the high life. We actually ate supper on the sidewalk, just a few feet from a convertible Ferrari Testarossa. The price tags on some of the Beverly Hills real estate made Lakewood Ranch luxury homes look like inexpensive pieces of property.

For our last and final day, the wife and I made it to Universal Studios. We didn’t go on any rides, but we got to snap a few photos with Grover, Yoda, and a faux Charlie Chaplin. Next, I was ecstatic to visit the Grammy Museum. I loved seeing Eddie Van Halen’s signature red guitar up close. We also discovered a new restaurant chain, Rolling Stone, that’s similar to any Hard Rock Cafe. In the evening, we ventured to the picturesque Santa Monica Pier. Here, we got to ride a giant Ferris wheel, enjoy some ice cream and play carnival games for fluffy prizes. Not bad for a long weekend. Needless to say, our trip to California was phenomenal. I have never experienced so much in just a few days’ time. It certainly beat spending the weekend watching DVDs in our Lakewood Ranch home for sale.
