If there is one celebrity who middle-aged men and women with Orlando real estate appreciate it is Eddie Murphy. Since the Eighties, he has kept us rolling with laughter. Recently, he has taken on more dramatic roles that you can easily enjoy in your living room.

For starters, 2006’s Dreamgirls is a phenomenal musical caught on film. Director Bill Condon’s adaptation of the hit musical by the same name tells a classic rags-to-riches story utilizing great cinematic technique and bravado. The big screen displays a trio of black female soul singers from a small town reaching the pop charts in the early 1960s. The women make it big and ride the roller-coaster of fame.

Beyoncé Knowles handles the journey from innocence to the staggering success and fortune of the group in the spotlight. The actress proves to possess a genuine talent, more so than other singers to cross over to Hollywood, such as Madonna or the late Whitney Houston. Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx plays a less-flashy role than usual, but one that is crucial to the story’s credibility, and Jennifer Hudson gives a dominating vocal delivery in each of her scenes and should pick up a statue for best Supporting Actress. Yet Eddie Murphy stands out as a fading star in his first dramatic role. Folks with homes for sale in Orlando think the comedian has never played a more memorable role, with the exception of an aging barber in Queens, New York.

Hot off Dreamgirls, Eddie Murphy starred in an over-the-top romantic comedy that hit theaters the following year, Norbit. In the Jerry Lewis-like spirit of Coming to America and The Nutty Professor, Eddie stars as multiple characters.

First, Eddie is the eponymous Norbit, a man bullied into marrying an obnoxious woman named Rasputia. The hideous bride is played by Murphy as well. She is perhaps the funniest character Eddie has ever played in his entire career. The comedian’s third role is Mr. Wong, the owner of a Chinese restaurant and orphanage. As a kid, he got the attention he so desperately desired from Rasputia, an overweight girl who he eventually married.

Norbit falls in love with Kate, played by Thandie Newton, and he schemes for her. He must come up with a clever plan to be with the woman who he really wants, despite her engagement to a caller played by Cuba Gooding Jr. Funnyman Eddie Griffin stars as a cast member as well.

Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks were quite disappointed when their family-friendly flick got stuck with an R rating due to its “sex-related humor.” Spectators will laugh at the latex outfits created by makeup effects guru Rick Baker who took more than three and a half hours to transform Murphy into Rasputia, and even longer for Mr. Wong.

Orlando luxury homeowners are excited that Coming to America 2 is in the works. According to Tweets released by Eddie, he is currently writing the script. However, there has been no information released on who will star in the sequel 30 years after its original release.
