There has never been a question that Miami Beach real estate owners appreciate quality art, and that appreciation includes vinyl. That is why so many of these South Floridians take pride in their record collections. Let’s take a look at some of the best.

Rich Aaron is a 52-year-old businessman who lives on the water with his speed boat. The man’s favorite band is Pink Floyd. In fact, Rich is ecstatic to see Roger Waters’ Us + Them tour taking place at American Airlines Arena on Thursday. To prepare for the bassist and mastermind of Pink Floyd’s concert, Rich has been listening to two of his favorite albums.

For starters, Rich has Pink Floyd’s Ummagumma psychedelic double album from 1969.  The first record is a live collection of their major hits, such as “Astronomy Domine” and “Careful with That Axe, Eugene,” while the second one contains individual compositions of each member of the band. Ummagumma reached #5 on the UK album charts and #74 on the US album charts, marking the first time the band reached the top 100 in the States.

The man also loves Pink Floyd’s The Final Cut. The 1982 record was recorded at several studios in the UK. None of the songs have ever been performed live by the band. However, some tunes have been experienced onstage by Waters during solo tours, as the mastermind dominates the entire cut.

Rich’s best buddy Marcus Fink is a banker who recently purchased a gorgeous home for sale in Miami Beach. Marcus also takes pride in his record collection that includes Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s Déjà Vu from 1970. Marcus says it stands as the quintessential album of the 1960’s counterculture. Each song on the LP is remarkable, as “Carry On,” “Teach Your Children,” “Almost Cut My Hair,” “Our House,” and “Woodstock” contains a social relevance that helped pioneer the folk-rock genre.

Of course, Rich’s favorite LP is Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Uprising, a reggae classic from 1980. Nearly every song addresses the legend’s Rastafarian beliefs, such as the acoustic folk song, “Redemption Song.” As Bob passed away the following year, Uprising was to become the final studio album to be released during his lifetime.

Living next door to Rich in a Miami Beach luxury home is Stacy Stevens. Being a big fan of the Fab Four, she loves her John Lennon Rock ‘n’ Roll record from 1975. It is made up of late 1950s and early 1960s-era rock songs covered the Beatle.  The cut became another hit for Lennon, reaching #6 on both sides of the Atlantic. The Walrus’s version of “Stand By Me” even hit the US Top 20.

Stacy also has a giant framed photo of the infamous John and Yoko picture in her living room. In 1968, the naked photo on Rolling Stone magazine’s cover of its first-anniversary issue was a political statement for the time. The idea of someone so famous and so physically average standing completely naked for the world to see was quite revolutionary, symbolizing peace and love in the turbulent time.
