Wellington real estate owner who appreciate Hall of Fame inductees Pearl Jam can always relive a memorable South Florida concert on CD. North Am Boot #30 was recorded over the summer of 2000 in West Palm Beach’s Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre, then known as Mars Music Amphitheater. Over the screams of thousands, Eddie Vedder announces “Good evening,” and Pearl Jam kicks into a dreamy, underwater version of “Oceans.” The hard charging songs,” Corduroy,” “Grievance,” and “Animal” will get your hearts pumping.

After six songs, the iconic front man speaks for the first time. “Hello, hello. It’s a beautiful night. I think that we all forgot that we have to work tonight. But this doesn’t feel like work. This is great.” After spending two hours looking for West Palm’s surf that didn’t exist, Eddie explains, “The only thing that was breaking today was my heart.”

At this point on the disc, the tempo mellows out. The audience comes together and sings “Nothing As It Seems” and “Faithful,” before “Even Flow.” Any number from their premier album, Ten, is always an occasion for a Pearl Jam fan. Listeners can hear just how crazy the assemblage got that night when Pearl Jam found a groove during the extended jam session in “Dissident.”

For the second time, the audience unites together with the band singing “Not For You.” Pearl Jam plays “Present Tense” and “MFC” before improvising a special two-minute ditty that closes with Veddar chanting “I am paralyzed.” The boys from Seattle do “Habit,” “Breakerfall,” and “Insignificance” before the highlight of the night, “Rearviewmirror.”

Do The Evolution” is followed by a screaming Stone Gossard solo in “Betterman.” North Am boot #30 squashes crowd favorite numbers, like “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” and “Small Town” from Pearl Jam’s fantastic second album, Vs. The crowd reaches its peak screaming “helloooo…” in the special acoustic version.

Veddar thanks Miami and Orlando homeowners and his “mama” before leading the band into “Go.” Thousands of folks with homes for sale in Wellington howl before Veddar pays tribute to Mike McCready, the bassist who “had a tough night,” Jeff Ament’s rhythm section, the “paralyzed big baby,” Stone Gossard, and Mr. Matt Cameron on drums before Pearl Jam gives us “Leaving Here.”

Wrapping up disc #30, the band gives us over six minutes of the classic, “Rockin’ In the Free World.” Do not be thrown off by the song title, “RITFW” on the CD. The consistent screaming reminds listeners of when the amphitheater turned on all the lights in the house for us all to sing along to the Neil Young cover.

Veddar rarely speaks to the crowd upon the first conquering of West Palm Beach. Yet, #30 is a favorite of the three Florida shows, as far as the set-lists are concerned.  However, Pearl Jam seemed to favor their Tampa performance, as it is one of eight specially marked discs chosen by the band.

Almost two decades later, nothing has changed. Wellington luxury homeowners cannot find a better band than Pearl Jam.
