One of the many benefits of living in South Florida is that you can enjoy going swimming 12 months a year. It’s enough to make the folks in Minnesota crazy. If you don’t believe me, try posting a photo of you catching rays from a raft in your swimming pool on Christmas day on Facebook. We’ll see how many people up north unfriend you. Of course, the posh residents living on Fort Myers real estate like to spice up their swimming pools with the latest and greatest features, ranging from diving boards and slides to waterfalls, fountains, and swim-up bars.

If you want to give any place you are currently living in or any home for sale in Fort Myers an active feel, put in a diving board. This can be a simple way to entertain children, as well as adults, for hours. Unfortunately, the excitement of a diving board tends to wear off after you jump into the pool a few dozen times. Besides, folks can do exactly that without installing a fancy diving board with built-in springs. They also cause homeowners’ insurance to go up thanks to liability issues. More than one person has been sued after the neighbor’s kid ended up in the hospital because he missed the water upon his landing. Doh!

Besides a diving board, folks like to build waterslides beside their swimming pools. They range in size from 6 to 12 feet. You would be amazed at how fast you can shoot down one when water under your feet and bum. You can throw your arms into the arm as you slide around its big curve and go flying into the swimming pool. However, kids are known to fly off slides and break an arm or two. Additionally, you’ll have to get more plumbing hooked up to run the water down the slide. Regardless, slides can be plenty of fun. Pretty soon, you can look and feel like you are George of the Jungle.

When it is time to feel like you are in George of the Jungle’s setting, simply adding a fancy waterfall can do wonders for a backyard’s overall appearance. Regardless of how handy you or your spouse may be, individuals are always better off hiring an architect, if not a designer to plan and execute the work. With proper designing, the waterfall will be the water’s filter. At the same time, the falling water is extremely relaxing to the human mind. Sure, a person can always add a fountain beside his or her swimming pool to get the same effects, but it won’t look nearly as beautiful.

When it comes to adding these specialty features to your backyard, the price is almost always an issue. It may be a fun idea to add something now, but is it truly cost-effective? How often will it be used when the kids get sick of it or go away to school? While waterfalls and swim-up bars look fantastic and are always fun in Fort Myers luxury homes, are they really worth the money?
