Those Coral Springs real estate owners who have been living in South Florida for many years are no strangers to nasty hurricanes. Many folks down in Miami-Dade County still remember the horrors that Hurricane Andrew created in the area in the early Nineties. Roughly a decade ago, Hurricane Wilma knocked out power in thousands of homes, ranging from Coral Gables and Fort Lauderdale to Boca Raton and West Palm Beach, for more than ten days.

Marcus Rickman is a stock broker who lives in a large 4-bedroom home in Coral Springs with his wife, three children, and two Golden Retrievers. His place lost all its electricity on Sunday morning at roughly 11 am, despite the storm not hitting until much later that night. To make matters worse, Mark was then out of electricity for three days. Believe me, being stuck at home with three bored kids and no air conditioning unit in August is no fun. Every time the man tried to read a book or take a nap, somebody was yelling about how hot it is or how bored they are. In Mark’s entire career, he never thought he’d be so happy to return to his office as he was this morning.

Penny Baker is a retired grandmother who recently purchased a 3-bedroom home for sale in Coral Springs. Fortunately, she never lost power and her AC works wonderfully. The only problem is that Penny’s daughter and two grandsons decided to stay with her. The kids were so messy and noisy that Penny’s boyfriend decided to go home. That left the woman alone to entertain and cook for all her guests. At least the children were able to charge their smartphones and occupy themselves, while their mother played on the internet for hours at a time.

Then there was a middle-aged school teacher named Tina Myers, whose 2-story home lost its entire wooden fence. Her backyard is now exposed to three different neighbors’ yards. It shouldn’t be such a big deal, as her insurance will cover the damage. However, Tina has two large Labrador retrievers that rely on a doggie door in the kitchen. Now Tina must lock her babies indoors for the long workdays. Otherwise, they will run loose throughout the neighborhood and get themselves into all sorts of trouble.

Tammy Kline is an advertising sales agent who recently purchased a gorgeous Coral Springs luxury home. Unfortunately, Tammy and her family of four have had no electricity or air conditioning since Hurricane Irma made its way through the area. No matter how much she psyched herself up, she was not prepared to shower in cold water. It’s a good thing that Tammy’s good friend, Mary, never lost power in her Coral Springs apartment. All Tammy had to do was get a mile or so down the road. She had to ride her bike, considering how many trees were all over the road, as well as the broken street lights. Even after Tammy showered and felt marvelous, the poor woman had to trek back to her home in the humidity. Doh!
