Whether it’s a decades’ old comedy or a Tom Cruise action flick, countless DVDs star memorable gas guzzlers. Who will ever forget Ghostbusters’ classic Cadillac, the unforgettable DeLorean from Back to the Future, or Ferris Bueller’s mint Ferrari GT? But fantastic films about car culture, rather than just a sweet ride in a few scenes, are a bit tougher to locate. Upon occasion, a script’s car is more appealing than the actors, or even the movie itself. We will now discuss some of Hollywood’s best greatest car-based pictures for Weston real estate to watch.

Dick Van Dyke and funny man, Benny Hill, appear in 1968’s G-rated Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang. In an unspecified year in the 1910s, the far-fetched script entails a magical car that sprouts wings and flies through the air. Also from ‘68, Dean Jones and Buddy Hackett were cast in The Love Bug, another one of Disney’s G-rated classics. It sports a Volkswagen racing Beetle named Herbie, a machine with a mind of its own. The German device possesses the ability to feel and express emotions as it races towards the finish line. Entertaining the whole family, The Love Bug sequels were released in 1974, 1980, and 2005.

A young Kurt Russell is quite the con man in 1980’s R-rated Used Cars. From turning back odometers to sticking on bumpers with gum for that “Like New” appearance, the scheming businessmen are downright hilarious. Eventually, nuns protest their disco commercials with erotic dancers that strip away inflation costs. People with homes for sale in Weston should watch for the Munsters’ Grandpa, Al Lewis, along with Lenny and Squiggy appearing on the lot. Can you say consumer fraud?

1981 introduced the most amusing car-based feature ever to folks with Weston homes for sale, the PG-rated Cannonball Run. Burt Reynolds partners up with Dom DeLuise in an illegal cross-country race 3,000 miles across the States. Smoking through traffic in an ambulance, the pair picks up a cross-eyed proctologist, as well as the late and great Farrah Fawcett as a tree lover. The distinguished group of highway degenerates includes Roger Moore playing himself in a sleek Bond-like ride full of gadgets. Spreading the work of the Lord, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. are disguised as a couple of priests trekking in a Ferrari with God as their co-pilot. A young and unknown Jackie Chan even competes in a computer-enhanced Subaru. The screwball comedy has countless gags, sexual innuendos, and breathtaking cars such as a Lamborghini. Writer and director Hal Needham, also responsible for 1977’s Smokey and the Bandit, is a former stuntman that entered an actual race with the same ambulance used in the feature. The Cannonball Run II, released three years later, simply doesn’t compare to original’s slapstick routines.

Tom Cruise has all the right moves as a stock car driver in 1990’s PG-13 Days of Thunder. When veteran Robert Duvall takes the top gun under his wing, the few good men light up the track. Sparks fly with risky business between Cruise and his doctor, Nicole Kidman, in their first onscreen romance. Viewers in Weston luxury homes can’t go wrong.
