Weston Homeowners Enjoy the Funniest Stand-Up Routines

Looking for a comical DVD to pop in at your Weston real estate? Jerry Seinfeld once explained three different levels of comedy. First, there’s making your friends laugh. Then there’s making strangers laugh. Finally, there’s getting paid to induce strangers’ laughter. Money making comics have gone on to SNL, while others have landed their own weekly television spots, like Chappelle Show. Hollywood blockbusters, from Caddyshack to Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights, are necessities in any movie buff’s personal library. Regardless, there’s nothing funnier than the right stand-up comedian making his art onstage.

There’s no comparison to the quick-talking George Carlin of the Seventies and Eighties. While his material was viewed as improper in its time period, the philosopher’s focus on people’s use and abuse of language is timeless. After all, Chaucer and Shakespeare were vulgar as well. Carlin Again from 1978 is a hoot. Wearing a bright blue outfit to match his eyes, he makes silly faces into the camera before taking a 360-degree stage in Las Vegas. The New Yorker explains that his job is to think up goofy stuff and remind audiences to laugh at it. For example, he wonders what restaurants do with frog torsos? Why is there no blue food? “Blueberries are purple.” Carlin focuses on the simple comedy of language.

1982’s Carlin at Carnegie should be in every home for sale in Weston. While onstage in his hometown, Carlin focuses on filthy words. There are only seven that are “always dirty” and can never be said on television. Other words are innocent and only sound humorous, like pussyfoot, woodpecker and beer-nuts. Carlin concludes the show by reading a lengthy scroll of his favorite “bad words.”

The first notable Richard Pryor DVD that should be in every Weston homes for sale is Live in Concert from 1979. In front of a joyous Long Beach, California crowd, he loves picking on white people and the way they talk. He also shares his true stories from his personal life, like being dragged to jail for killing his car with a gun. Then there’s talking to God while experiencing a heart attack. He also delves into the ideal pets, from Exorcist-like Dobermans to horses, monkeys, snakes and deer.

Perhaps the most hysterical Pryor show is Live on the Sunset Strip. No subject is safe in during the Reagan Era America. Wearing a bright red suit with a black top and black bowtie, he shares stories from his own life. Folks in Weston luxury homes hear about Pryor going home with a Playboy Bunny who’s easily seduced with comedy. The difference between men and women while arguing is brought up. He shares true stories about working in a penitentiary, marriage, racism, African hitchhikers with body odor and working for Wise Guys like Johnny Salami. Finally, Pryor transforms into the wino-philosopher Mudbone. The character cracks on Pryor’s infamous freebasing incident.  “Fire is inspirational” when you burn your own face, he explains.

As long as you have the right DVD to pop in, you and your loved ones can have a ball without leaving the comfort of your own home.
