Do you miss the good ol’ days when you had long and thick hair? You could get a big haircut once a month and it would grow right back. You never had to worry about issues like grey hair and thinning follicles. But those days are long gone.  These days, a majority of men and women with homes for sale in Fort Lauderdale have to deal with damaged hair in order to look young and healthy.

Whether you are a man or a woman living on the beach, you certainly don’t want to see your hair lose its strength and color. Before you know it, hair will be falling right off your head. Fortunately, Fort Lauderdale real estate owners along the beach can now practice a few tricks to protect and repair damaged hair.

You may or may not know that salt water can be detrimental to your hair. Not much can be more appealing than hanging out in the salt water, feeling the sand play between your toes and the warm sun give color to your skin. Yet, your strands of hair are getting severely damaged. Often times, this harmful effect can be permanent if the right steps are not taken. Whether you rely on nutritional supplements or try vitamins, a number of useful tricks exist to protect and repair your hair from the ocean’s destructive salt water.

Whether you realize it or not, the precious hair on your head has a decent amount of moisture in it. There is also a fair amount of protein that supplies the color. Saltwater robs your hair of its important moisture. Hair follicles become dry and weak. It easily tangles up and eventually falls out. You’ll start seeing more and more on your shirt collars, pillowcases, and on the floor of your shower. That sight alone can often be enough to frighten a middle-aged Fort Lauderdale luxury homeowner and cause him or her stress, along with depression.

If you have spent one too many hours soaking up the rays, along with the salt in the ocean, there are some preventative measures that you can take before losing your beautiful head of hair. For starters, you can place a bit of olive oil around the top of your head, and use your fingers to rub it in, without actually touching your scalp. You do not want oily skin up there. The oils and proteins of mayonnaise supposedly work just as well for making hair grow stronger after being left on the top of your scalp for 30 minutes. Just don’t let your dog near you. Too often, hairdryers make your hair follicles dry as a bone, not unlike moisture-robbing electric irons. Fortunately, you can always depend on supplements of vitamins A, C, and E to keep your hair looking and feeling fully moisturized.

Whether you simply give up and accept losing your dark and thick hair or continue to fight for a youthful appearance, keeping your follicles healthy is always a smart decision.
