An intimate group of film lovers meets once a week on Oviedo real estate to roll on the floor laughing at a hysterical film, such as 1980’s Airplane! The screwball comedy from 1980 ranks up there with both Fletch and Caddyshack as one of the all-time most hilarious pictures ever. Friends and neighbors with Oviedo luxury homes recently met at Jay’s house to watch and discuss the flick.

Jay Stone is a businessman with several homes for sale in Oviedo. The small group met at a gorgeous Oviedo homes for sale and shared popcorn and soda while they laughed. Before the screening, Jay explained the basics to the other Oviedo real estate owners.

People learned that Airplane! was written, directed, and produced by the winning trio, Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker. Every Oviedo real estate owner agrees that it possesses an all-star cast, including Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Lloyd Bridges and the late Leslie Nielsen, on top of a memorable cameo by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Nina Parker, a nurse with beautiful Oviedo real estate of her own, explained that the movie was first designed as a 20-minute sketch. But the work kept growing with various one-liners and gags. Eventually, the flick grew into a full feature spoof of the disaster movie genre.

Intrigued, the Oviedo real estate owners watched as every man, woman, and child aboard the plane got violently ill from eating the complimentary meal. The only doctor on board is Leslie Neilson who doesn’t get ill, as he ate the lasagna. Eventually, the passengers are rescued by a former military pilot who overcomes his new fear of flying the friendly skies.

Robert Hays is the hero, Ted Striker, saving the day by getting the airliner to its destination, and landing it safely. Doug Jackson, another Oviedo real estate owner claims to love the film’s subplots. For instance, we learn that Striker suffers from a “drinking problem,” spilling every beverage down his face. Also, his ex-girlfriend, Elaine, is a flight attendant on the very same vessel.

Phil McCoy is a professor at a local Florida university with Oviedo real estate of his own. Dr. McCoy says that Airplane! is full of cultural references. The Oviedo real estate owners giggled at the opening sequence making fun of Jaws.

Dr. McCoy taught the other Oviedo real estate owners that Airplane! was a low-budget project, so little funding was available for hiring extras. As a direct result, the filmmakers and their families show up in a number of scenes. The Oviedo real estate owners watched David and Jerry Zucker appear as two ground crew members who accidentally direct a plane into a terminal.

The Oviedo real estate owners also saw their mother, Charlotte Zucker, as a woman attempting to apply makeup onboard as they fly through violent turbulence. And their sister, Susan Breslau, is a ticket agent in the airport, while Abrahams’ mother is one of the unfortunate passengers in the friendly skies. If you haven’t already, you surely must see Airplane! And I’ll stop calling you Shirley.
